Defending Your Movie

Happy Halloween everyone! Today is a special bonus episode and our third Resident Evil script of the month. I have a complicated relationship with this series of films and this one is maybe my most conflicted of the bunch, and therefore was the one I was most excited to cover. I hope you enjoy this mid week bonus episode as I discuss Resident Evil Afterlife. Written By: Paul W. S. Anderson Logline: While still out to destroy the evil Umbrella Corporation, Alice joins a group of survivors living in a prison surrounded by the infected who also want to relocate to the mysterious but supposedly unharmed safe haven known only as Arcadia. Last week we took a look at the first draft for Resident Evil, the 2002 video game adaptation. This week I continue with the spooky season with a follow up of the second sequel script, Resident Evil Extinction. The script was originally titled Afterlife which would then become the title of the fourth film.  Written By: Paul W. S. Anderson Logline: Survivors of the Raccoon City catastrophe travel across the Nevada desert, hoping to make it to Alaska. Alice joins the caravan and their fight against the evil Umbrella Corp. Just like today's script I'm back from the dead. It's been a while since I posted the last episode but I dug myself out of my rut and actually got through a few scripts recently. The rest of this month is going to be Resident Evil themed as I take a look at the scripts for the movie's that we actually got versus the George Romero script that we previously covered. FYI Today's episode comes with a fun drinking game for every time I saw "in the movie." Written By: Paul W. S. Anderson Logline: A special military unit fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident. Well Marvel phase 3 has officially come to an end with this years releases of Avengers Endgame and Spider-Man Far From Home. It's been 11 years and 23 movies in the making and we have come to the end of the Infinity saga as it's been known. I sit down with former guest Alberto and new guest Frank as we take a look at the franchise as a whole and discuss the future and phase 4. We are now on Patreon! Well it's been a while since I've posted an episode and while I haven't had time to get through a script I have seen some movies so I thought I would do a quick update and review show! There will probably be more of these to come in the future as life gets in the way of reading. I give a little review on Avengers Endgame, Jessica Jones Season 3, Newness, John Wick 3, and Aladdin. So I am an avid player of video games and the Uncharted series is one of my favorites. It doesn't take a genius to see how the video game series could make a great movie because it already feels so much like a modern take on Indiana Jones. It does however seem impossible to get a movie made because there have already been multiple failed attempts, and I'm going to look at one of those on this episode. At C2E2 in Chicago I got to sit down with Quest Nutrition Co-Founder and CEO of Impact Theory Tom Bilyeu. We discussed Impact Theory's new foray into comic book publishing with their first title, a cyberpunk epic, Neon Future. Neon Future co-created with Steve Aoki and written by Jim Kreuger. This past weekend was C2E2 in Chicago and I attended the show as press where I was able to sit for the Into the Badlands Season 3 panel. After the showing of the premiere episode I got to join the press pool as we fired questions at Executive producers Miles Millar, Alfred Gough, and Executive Producer/Actor Daniel Wu. Into the Badlands airs on AMC on 10/9c every Monday. This episode also features some extra plugs for some new friends. I recently made some friends in the writing community and offered up some free plugs on their work. Be sure to help support the little guy and check out their websites and offers. Today's episode features an interview with Actor, Producer, and Director Michael Manasseri. Michael was kind enough to call in and discuss his new movie that showed at Sundance, Give Me Liberty. We also discuss what it's like being a producer outside of Hollywood and how tax incentives influence the film business. It's a very fun and educated episode about a side of film making that feels rarely discussed.  We are now on Patreon! Well we are now into 2019 so it's time to do my yearly recap of my favorite movies of 2018. As always this is an incomplete list as there are multiple movies I missed this year that I still want to see. What follows is the list of my top ten movies of 2018 that I did manage to see.
