On this program of Real Israel Talk Radio - Season 2, Episode 65, we are going to be looking at a few passages of the Bible to help us understand how the Almighty Eternal One defines LOVE.

Consult any type of dictionary, printed or online, and type-in the question, “What is Love? What kind of answer might you expect to receive? If you have never done this, just try it sometime and you will quickly learn how the world around us defines this thing called “Love.” Generally speaking, the range of answers might sound something like this:

  • “Love” is a mix of emotions, behaviors, and beliefs linked to very strong feelings of affection, protectiveness, warmth, and respect for others.
  • “Love” is when you choose to be at your best when the other person is not at their best. Love is when what you want is never important. But what the other person needs and wants is always paramount.... “That's a hard one to do, but that's what true love is.”
  • “Love” is bringing a source of joy, happiness, and acceptance for each another. Conversely, if we do not generate joy for and acceptance of all people, regardless of one’s beliefs and/or cultural customs, then we are not loving nor are we injecting love into the world.

However, I think that most people are likely to define “Love” in ways that go far deeper than just speaking about a descriptive series of feelings and emotions.

To help us understand the deeper aspects of what Love is really all about, join me in taking some time to consult Romans 5:6-8, 1 John 4:19, Matthew 5:43-48, and Isaiah 64:6. Specifically, we will spend some time unpacking Romans 5:6-8 - "For when we were still without strength, in due time Messiah died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Messiah died for us."
