Having collaborated on a regular basis since 2017, Korin Complex and Carter Wolfe have been continually exploring new ways to work with sound. While 2020 saw the release of their track ‘Ponder’ on the Winding River EP (Miracle Drug Recordings), we are excited to be putting out a brand new collaborative release from Korin Complex and Carter Wolfe on Off-Switch Audio. After many years refining their sound, ‘Airlock EP’ demonstrates a satisfyingly fun and hands-on approach to dance music. Capturing analogue synth jams and digitally building them into fully-fledged tracks together via the internet, the pair have creatively overcome barriers of lockdowns and long-distance to put together a heavy hitting combo of bass, beats and catchy synth-lines.

The EP begins with the title track Airlock. The track gradually morphs punching polyrhythmic percussion into melodies that gracefully rotate around the higher frequencies. This leaves the perfect amount of space for the slow, decaying reverberations to ring back-and-forth between the smooth pitch modulated bass in a complex chatter of sound.

Filament then uses a similar sonic palette, filling the space with thick textures and fast-paced rhythmic intricacies. This one re-contextualises nostalgic analogue synth tones with digital FX processing, placing you in a somewhat outer-worldly musical experience perfectly accompanied with aggressive low frequency energy; Filament is truly one for those lone entrancing moments on the dancefloor.

Next up, Korin Complex takes on a more playful approach with Busywork. Although this one is a solo production from Korin, Busywork retains much of the energy of the previous two tracks. Cut up vocal samples syncopate above a heavy four-to-the-floor kick pattern, alongside an accidentally generated synth lead and an overload of electronic drum kit hits.

Finally, long-time accomplice of the Off-Switch imprint Barom, puts a brand new spin on Airlock. Combining loopy electro style drums with elements from the original, and signature organic sound design switch ups of his own, Barom takes the title track to an exciting new territory; the perfect encore to complete OSD009.

Fly By Night welcome the return of Tom Place for his second release on the label with Rogue Nation, this time partnered with a heavy remix from Raider's Souci, releasing on all platforms Friday 20th May.

A lot has happened since Fixate released his last full length record, ‘What Goes Around’, on Exit Records in 2017. After putting out two Bandcamp EPs (‘Glare’ & ‘Confusion’) and several remixes—including his ‘Ripgroove Refix’, which famously went viral on Sherelle’s 2019 Boiler Room set and was eventually released as official remix on Ice Cream Records—he now presents his self-titled debut album ‘Fixate’.

Developed over five years, the project showcases Fixate’s sound palette in all its variety, a diversity of taste that’s reflected in his supporters: he’s garnered attention from icons like Andy C, Goldie, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, as well as underground tastemakers like Call Super, Toddla T, and Skee Mask. Ross From Friends closed off his 2020 Room Isolation set with Fixate’s breaky acid number ‘On Edge’; Sicaria Sound spun the dub-influenced album opener ‘Ruminate’ in their sets; and Madam X had sub-heavy track ‘Gristle’ doing the rounds.

Making up for lost time we are back with another Redstone Press debut in the form of Henry Greenleaf.

After Liam Robertson’s Village of Killin release we were on a collision course with Henry, both parties reached out to one another simultaneously in hopes of working together and here we are! Henry spent a lot of time in the Lake District prior to and during the beginning of the pandemic and this release is the fruit beared from that period! Full of tense space and creative freedom, Kirkstone EP is Henry’s finest work to date (in our biased and arrogant opinion) and highlights his ever-upwards trajectory.

The EP’s namesake boots down the door with his instantly recognisable drum work and intricate synth lines, simply put Kirkstone is a club killer!

Closing out the EP is “Group Translate”, a symphony of cascading sounds that ramp up the pace and force you into taking notice! This hammer of a track sounds like something you’d hear as you pass through a blackhole in space, on eccies.
