"To quote the seminal and timeless A-Trak: "...if someone DJs for long enough all roads lead to either disco or techno or both. It's inevitable. Doesn't matter what they started off playing, Eventually you get into rarified distilled dance music and it's those 2."
As seasoned club-goers, we could not agree more and would not have it any other way. As a city, Zagreb embodies this ethos very well-but definitely skews to the harder end of the spectrum.
This is why we were completely thrilled when we heard that local legends Discoton and Dobar Disco were collaborating to bring our Defected favorite Mousse T. to town along with Delfonic & Dobar House head honcho Tom Bug.
When we arrived around midnight we weren't sure what to expect, but from the moment we got in the vibes were infectious and the dance floor was calling. Delfonic took us through a time warp playing classics and reworks. Like all the best DJs, he spun not only what we knew and loved but took us on a journey with songs we didn't know we needed, with some of the funkiest basslines and horns ever.
To our surprise, he carried that energy a bit beyond his 1:00AM set time ending but we definitely were not disappointed and he earned a spot in our regular rotation. (We apologize for only being previously familiar with the 60s soul group The Delfonics). Now we now know what makes him such a mainstay in the Berlin scene! A crowning moment for our team had to be hearing Let Somebody Love You by Keni Burke-which in more recent times was sampled by Jamie XX and Honey Dijon as well as closing with the aptly named Take Me Home. Legendary."
