When troubling obsessive-compulsive thoughts began overwhelming my mind in early adolescence, I felt great shame in my condition. I acknowledged these thoughts as unwelcome, but I had no idea how to disarm or dismiss them. I felt forced to accommodate them. And that made my condition difficult to hide because these thoughts influenced my behavior in such a profound way. My solution was greater control. I worked hard to manipulate my environment to ensure that I could maintain the highest level of stability possible so that I would never have to reveal my real identity to the world. And this affected every single relationship in my life, often in a very devastating way. But when I surrendered my life to the Lord in 2011, everything began to change. God gave me an affirmation that allowed my life to turn around in a miraculous fashion. His first words, "let go". Without giving up my need for control, my healing season would never fully come into bloom. Today, Michael Simmons joins us on the show. Michael and I met each other at about the midway point of 2020 when he made his introduction to my mental health community, The Outlet. I instantly felt a connection to Michael. He is an amazing human being and a great man faith. And today, I am blessed to share the depth of Michael's journey with the world. Early in his life, Michael had a close-knit relationship with God. But at the age of ten, Michael experienced a traumatic event that began to derail the stability within his family. Soon after, Michael started to encounter abuse in his home. And that created a wedge between he and God. He felt angry and abandoned. And it was not until he hit rock bottom in a broken and toxic marriage many years later that he began to seek to reconnect with the Lord. Michael's rebirth occurred in 2005. While his awakening was a magical experience, many of the messy remnants of his past remained. And within those messy remnants, the devil continued his relentless push to rob Michael of the joy and hope of the Lord. But one morning, following a night of persistent spiritual warfare, the Lord spoke to Michael. And He reminded Michael that He made him for a purpose. As a result of this divine intervention, Michael's true identity became revealed to Him through Christ. He now lives his life seeking opportunities to lift people up and openly share the joy of his faith with those around him. Michael reminds us that we are all qualified to do God's work. And like a muscle, we must exercise our faith in order to strengthen it. We live in a world that is fallen. And deception is at every corner. In this season of darkness, The Truth is our Light. And Jesus Christ tells us that The Truth will set us free. Where can we go to find community in The Truth? The most obvious answer would be the church. But what happens when the church compromises its principles for the sake of its position in the world? What happens when the church falls into the bondage of the spirit of fear? What happens when the pulpit is used to deliver messages rooted simply in what the itching ears wish to hear? What happens when the church breaks our trust and denies The Truth in its entirety? If the church refuses to renounce evil, it enables it. It is time for leaders in ministry to stand up and be counted. We deserve The Truth. And if we cannot find it within the walls of our sanctuaries, we will become it. We are the church.

And He learned that trouble comes when we begin trusting in our own will and begin denying the Will of God. God loves us deeply, but He is not opposed to returning us to lessons that we missed the first time around. He is always shaping and molding us for the glory of His Kingdom. Today, Jeff lives his life with a servant mindset. He is on a mission to save souls and reveal purpose in the lives of others.
