Delwayne Pavel was born May 2, 1940, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Emil and Mayme (Dostal) Pavel. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Marietta High School in 1958.
On September 27, 1961, Delwayne was united in marriage to Mary Ann Sramek at St. Mary’s Church in rural Wilson. Delwayne and MaryAnn were married for 64 wonderful years. They were blessed with raising 5 children. The most important thing to him was family and friendships. His Catholic faith played a very important role in his life as well.
Delwayne and MaryAnn spent much of their life on their beloved farm, raising crops and livestock. They later moved to Schuyler and then he worked for the City of Schuyler Parks and Recreation Department. He also worked part-time as a bartender at the Oak Ballroom, a role well-suited to his warm personality and unmistakable gift of gab. He made friends very easily and could strike up a conversation with anyone.
He enjoyed collecting John Deere and John Wayne memorabilia, fishing and enjoying his sweet treats. He was also a devoted fan of watching WWE wrestling and loved reading all of his western books. He was an avid Cornhusker fan. Delwayne was a member of the Knights of Columbus and proudly sang with the Church Choir.
Delwayne is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; daughter Susan (Mike) Morin; son Jeff Pavel (significant other Angie Brockhaus); son Dave (Deb) Pavel, daughter Deb (Juan) Coronado; and daughter Annette (Monte) Lange. He is also survived by his sisters, Jolene (Bernie) Bogus and Marion Bukosky.
He is also survived by 1 niece, Renee, 7 nephews, Steve, Randy, Mike, Bob, Dan, Mike and Terry, 13 Grandchildren; Ambyr, Braidyn; Kaci, Sidnee, Jordan, McKenna, Brianna, Heather, Eric, Jon, Allison, Bailey, and Caitlyn and 6 great-grandchildren, Makani, Koiya, Colter, Jaidan, Brady, and Jersie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Mayme Pavel; parents-in-law, Stephen and Mary Sramek; brother Ron Pavel, brothers-in-law Ralph Kampschnieder and Don Bukosky; brother-and sister-in-law Frank and Wanda Sramek; niece Regina Hejhal and grandson Austin Morin.
