What do you do when this one you trust the most gives you commands you know you cannot accomplish? How do you show obedience, or faithfulness, in the face of guaranteed failure? If the world is better off without you, does that mean you should be removed?

Lisa doesn't remember driving away from the van. Cassidy slowly leaks the truth. Cassidy fails to recreate a memory for Lisa. Lisa explains her rejection thereof using inapplicable senses. The memory offered is from the perspective of Lisa driving, which makes Lisa think. Lisa shares her feelings regarding possession. Cassidy justifies her methodology for escaping the shadow society.

Cassidy explains to Lisa why she was arrested. Lisa and Cassidy have to try to figure out how to perform crime scene sanitation for Cassidy's angel. They discuss potential methods and find a van just off indrio road. Cassidy is fooled by an illusion and stumbles upon a shadow society that is looking for them. Cassidy becomes a man momentarily after accidentally joining Daniel. Daniel wakes up from Cassidy's life like a dream. Daniel knows where Cassidy and Lisa are and is about to inform the shadow of society. Cassidy's Angel advises Cassidy to take the memories from Daniel before Daniel figures out what happened and takes those same memories from Cassidy.

Cassidy and Lisa go shopping for tools of dismemberment and narrowly escape an encounter with a figure from Lisa's past. Cassidy creates a simple diversion so Lisa can slip away discreetly before being confronted by the creeper. Cassidy considers joining the stalker to get more information before she is interrupted by her lover and drawn to her throne room on the other side, adorned with beautiful boys armored in other worldly metals, and decorated by lava falling from the sky. Cassidy's angel prevents Cassidy from making the critical mistake of joining Lisa's (Allison's) pursuer in the physical world. Cassidy explains how triggers may be used to interrupt their human removal public service, and how to avoid them.

Patricia, Cassidy and Cassidy's angel regroup in a hotel room while Cassidy's angel creates a training opportunity. Cassidy is disappointed that the drug acquisition was not for consumption. Patricia reveals her new alias, and her reasons for changing. Cassidy's angel instructs Cassidy that she has a lot of "scrubbing" to do.

Cassidy waits for Patricia while Cassidy's angel plays games with Cassidy from the car. She challenges Cassidy's sexual orientation. She gets violent with Cassidy on the other side. Patricia discusses her accommodations from her recent stay as a guest in the Brevard County Jail Complex.

Cassidy's Angel wakes her up in Jacksonville on their way to Melbourne. Cassidy must get into character and prepare to bail her niece Patricia out. Cassidy continues to wrestle with the gravity of the reality that her protégé might be in trouble. Cassidy's angel instruct her on the usefulness of guilt. Cassidy wars with the loss of privacy that comes from the presence of a deity.

Cassidy sits by the fire swirling rye in her glass and dreams of her lover from days past. She finds she is confronted about her failures concerning her protégé. The one who they set free from the cowering trauma of abuse, has continued in the craft and cornered herself in Melbourne, Florida. Cassidy must set the stage for the detectives and bail schedules and rage that are about to affect her protégé in these days to come. She must use the abilities which she has left unrehearsed to find and possess those who may mean well, but in this game of chess to tell are simply pawns to play their parts today.
