Should we respond to physical force and violence with more of the same? Should Christians respond to injustice with physical force? Should we be vigilantes and respond to people doing wrong by taking the law into our own hands? While there are some clear answers to these questions, the context of Jesus' arrest is not about whether Christians ought to be pacifists, or not. Instead, the issue is whether God can deliver us, and whether we accept his sovereign will when he chooses not to, and how we cope if that is the case. (Sermon)
