While being “perfect” may sound like an impossible task, today Derek has made that goal seem not only possible, but also attainable. Today we hear Derek Prince explain that the word Christ means “anointed with the Holy Spirit.” It corresponds to the Old Testament title, Messiah. God promised Israel an anointed deliverer and king and that promise was fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth.

God’s salvation is not found in religion or commandments, but rather in the person who bears the name of Savior. Salvation is in a person—it takes a person to bring salvation. Simeon said of the babe, Jesus, “My eyes have seen your salvation.”

The title, “the Lion of the tribe of Judah” is given to describe Jesus in the last book of the Bible, the book of Revelation. This indicates to us that not only was Jesus born a Jew, raised and educated as a Jew – but that He will remain a Jew until the end of days.

Jesus as the Lamb of God set an example for us to follow. For instance, He committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth. When they hurled insults against Him, Jesus did not retaliate. When He suffered, Jesus made no threats. And, because of humility, Jesus was exalted. This powerful teaching will encourage you that “The way to become a lion is to start as a lamb.”

Biblical names are very significant—they always have meaning. That is particularly true of the names or titles of Jesus.
