What does it really take to build meaningful relationships across cultures, communities, and differences?
In this episode of Derive Insights, I sit down with Matthias Lemos Castillo, founder of MLC Consulting, community engagement consultant, cultural bridge builder, and leadership advisor.
Originally from Uruguay and now based in the United States, Matthias brings an international perspective to conversations about cultural competency, inclusive leadership, community engagement, and authentic connection.
Together, we explore why diversity should be more than a buzzword and what organizations can do to create environments where people genuinely feel heard, valued, respected, and connected.
Matthias shares his perspective on building bridges across different backgrounds and communities, strengthening relationships, and helping leaders understand that meaningful inclusion isn't simply about having different people in the room—it's about creating the trust and connection that allows those people to truly belong.
This conversation is a reminder that stronger communities and organizations are built through intentional relationships, curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to understand people who may experience the world differently

What happens when we stop protecting our ideas and start challenging them?
In this episode of Derive Insights, I sit down with Mohamed Nabil, an author, social innovator, and creator of AIDOP an innovative approach that uses artificial intelligence to critically challenge an author's own work through transparent, published debates.
Our conversation explores artificial intelligence, critical thinking, ethical publishing, democracy, intellectual transparency, and the search for truth in an age of overwhelming information.
Mohamed believes people should have the opportunity to understand the reasoning behind conclusions rather than simply accepting what an authority, expert, or popular opinion tells them. Through his work, he encourages people to investigate evidence, engage with opposing perspectives, and develop the courage to question even the ideas they personally believe.
We also explore his philosophy of Enlightened Populism, his work across philosophy, politics, fiction, artificial intelligence, and social reform, and his broader questions about ethics, education, democracy, and humanity's future.
At the heart of this conversation is a simple but powerful idea: intellectual growth requires the courage to challenge our own thinking.
What if being confident in an idea doesn't mean refusing to question it but being willing to put it under pressure?

What does it really take to change when you know something in your life isn't working?
In this episode of Derive Insights, we explore addiction, recovery, self-deception, identity, and what it means to truly belong to yourself.
Our guest is Peg O’Connor, a professor of philosophy with more than three decades of teaching experience, author of four books on addiction and recovery, and creator of the Ready to Recover quiz, a tool designed to help people move from recognizing a problem to becoming genuinely ready to change.
Peg's work is deeply personal. As someone in recovery from alcoholism, she discovered that philosophy could become more than an academic discipline. It could provide a way to understand herself, challenge self-deception, rebuild self-respect, and ultimately reclaim her sense of belonging to herself.
In this conversation, we explore what happens after setbacks, why recognizing a problem doesn't always mean we're ready to change, and how deeper self-understanding can become part of the recovery process.
Peg also shares insights into the difficult space between knowing what we need to change and actually becoming willing to change it.
Whether you're navigating your own challenges, supporting someone through recovery, or simply trying to understand yourself more deeply, this conversation offers practical wisdom about responsibility, identity, change, and living a more meaningful life.

What remains when everything you've built suddenly falls apart?
Welcome to Remind Me of Myself, a special series on Derive Insights where we uncover the defining moments, lessons, and experiences that remind us of who we truly are beneath the noise, setbacks, and expectations of life.
In this episode, I sit down with Polis Xinaris, an entrepreneur, social media marketing expert, certified mental disruptor, Master Reiki practitioner, and performance coach.
Polis's journey is one of resilience, reinvention, courage, and personal responsibility. After his family's global business collapsed during an economic crisis, he found himself facing debt, financial uncertainty, and very little control over what happened next.
But instead of surrendering to his circumstances, Polis made a difficult decision: to stop waiting for other people to decide the direction of his life and start taking responsibility for his own future.
A major turning point came in 2018 when he invested in attending a Tony Robbins event despite his difficult financial circumstances. What he brought back wasn't simply motivation, it was a new perspective on personal responsibility, decision-making, and the courage to rebuild.
In this conversation, we explore what happens when everything falls apart, how to rebuild when you have very little, why waiting for circumstances to change can keep us stuck, and what it means to take ownership of the decisions that shape our lives.
At its heart, this conversation is a reminder that your circumstances may change your direction, but they don't have to determine your destination.

What if true healing begins when we stop treating only the symptoms and start understanding the person as a whole?
Welcome to Remind Me of Myself, a special series on Derive Insights where we go beyond success stories to uncover the defining moments, experiences, and lessons that shape extraordinary people and help us recognize pieces of our own journey.
In this episode, I sit down with Magic Barclay, a holistic health practitioner, trauma specialist, author, speaker, and host of A Magical Life: Health, Wealth and Weight Loss. After surviving childhood trauma, an eating disorder, alcoholism, an abusive marriage, and multiple life-threatening health challenges, Magic made a powerful decision: to look beyond symptoms and search for the deeper causes behind her health struggles.
Her journey led her into the worlds of mold toxicity, psychoneuroimmunology, trauma, functional health, innate immunity, and lymphatic health. Today, she helps people explore the connection between emotional experiences, the body's systems, and long-term wellbeing.
Together, we explore how trauma can influence the way we experience life and health, why understanding the root cause matters, and what it means to take a more holistic approach to healing.
At the heart of this conversation is a powerful reminder: your past may influence you, but it does not have to have the final word.

What if your biggest business advantage isn't the size of your budget, but the creativity you already have?
In this episode of Derive Insights, I sit down with Mark Newsome, widely known as Mr. Marketing, a marketing strategist who helps entrepreneurs, service providers, and small business owners uncover opportunities, generate repeat customers, increase referrals, and grow profits without relying on massive marketing budgets.
Together, we explore what it really takes to market and grow a business during difficult economic seasons. Mark challenges the belief that success requires deep pockets and explains why resourcefulness, strategic thinking, relationships, creativity, and consistency can often outperform a large marketing budget.
We also discuss the mistakes businesses make when they panic during economic uncertainty and why limitations can sometimes force entrepreneurs to become more creative, intentional, and strategic.
At the heart of this conversation is a powerful reminder: your bank account isn't your only resource. Your creativity, connections, experience, and ability to see opportunities others overlook can become your greatest competitive advantages.
Whether you're a small business owner, entrepreneur, service provider, or someone trying to grow with limited resources, this conversation will challenge you to stop focusing on what you don't have and start making better use of what you already do.

What if transformation isn't one defining moment, but a decision we make every single day?
In this episode of Derive Insights, I sit down with Holly Fair, affectionately known as Queen Holly, a transformational life coach, speaker, Tony Robbins trainer, RRI Mastery-certified coach, and founder of Fire Up Live.
Holly's journey has taken her through childhood abuse, divorce, infertility, pregnancy loss, heartbreak, and years of feeling disconnected from herself. At one of her lowest points, she made a decision that changed the direction of her life: she would stop simply surviving and start learning how to truly live.
Her transformation began at Tony Robbins' Date with Destiny, where she confronted the cost of the life she had been living and committed to rebuilding herself from the inside out. One of the most powerful practices she adopted was wearing a crown every day for two years, a simple but meaningful reminder of confidence, self-worth, identity, and the woman she was becoming.
Today, Holly has shared her story with more than 25,000 people at Tony Robbins' Date with Destiny event, helping women reclaim what she calls their "Queen Identity" and step into greater confidence, authenticity, and leadership.
Together, we explore identity, healing from trauma, overcoming heartbreak, breaking free from limiting beliefs, and the courage to choose yourself again and again.
This conversation is a reminder that your past may shape your story, but it doesn't have to define who you become.

What if changing the world begins with changing ourselves?
In this episode of Derive Insights, I sit down with Alan, known as the Paraclete, author of The Modern Citizen. His work explores personal transformation, civic responsibility, and the role of consciousness in shaping a better future for humanity.
Together, we explore the connection between who we become as individuals and the kind of society we create. We discuss personal responsibility, wisdom, compassion, consciousness, and why meaningful change requires more than simply expecting the world around us to change.
At the heart of this conversation is a powerful reminder: a better world begins with people who are willing to become better versions of themselves.

What if better health doesn't require perfection, just better choices, repeated consistently?
In this episode of Derive Insights, I sit down with Graham Hawley, a certified health and wellness coach and founder of Simply Health Conscious. After witnessing his father and brother experience the devastating effects of type 2 diabetes and other lifestyle-related conditions, Graham turned a deeply personal experience into a mission to help others take greater responsibility for their health.
Together, we explore how everyday habits can shape our energy, wellbeing, and long-term health. Graham shares what he learned from watching his own family struggle with lifestyle diseases and why he believes a different future is possible when we begin making intentional changes today.
This conversation isn't about chasing perfection or making extreme changes overnight. It's about understanding how small, sustainable decisions—what we eat, how we move, how we rest, and how we live, can gradually transform the quality of our lives.
Whether you're looking to improve your health, prevent lifestyle-related illness, or simply become a better steward of the life you've been given, this conversation offers a practical reminder that lasting change begins with the choices we make every day.

Where you come from can shape your story but does it have to determine where you end up?
In this episode of Derive Insights, I sit down with Christopher Rivers, former U.S. Army officer, veteran leadership expert, author, and strategist. Christopher is the author of You Didn't Have to Kill to Get Ahead, and his journey has taken him from a working-class upbringing to military service in Iraq and Afghanistan, teaching at West Point, graduate studies at Georgetown, diplomacy, corporate strategy, and public office.

Christopher shares lessons from his journey on leadership, belonging, opportunity, rebuilding trust, and creating meaningful change through everyday choices.
