  • Desolation Angel Radio - Christmas 2025

The annual Christmas show! Really cool Christmas music, and talking about what Christmas means to me, and how some of you have saved it over the years for me. Where the Nomad Project came from (it started out as a Christmas thing), some really big personal news from me concerning the immediate future, some thanks to all of you, and if you're a friend of mine, you're probably name checked on a national podcast with some Christmas wishes, some gratitude for friendship and being on the planet and some thanks.

    Enjoy

  • Desolation Angel Radio - The Journey - Part 2

This episode continues the journey that we started. This part of it talking about where I was born, grew up, the family I grew up in, and some of the things that make me "me" today, and some tasty cuts of music. The journey continues, and thanks for being along on it with me, and I think you'll find that my journey isn't unique, that it's part of your journey too.

    Enjoy

  • Desolation Angel Radio - Reflections

Every year, come Winter, right around my birthday and the holidays, I take a journey, because now is the time to turn inward and reflect. Yes, there will be Heron episodes come later Winter, after the first of the year. Yes, the Comstock gang will get back together and check in with one another and we'll talk and make y'all part of that. But now? Now is the time for looking at my journey, which, though it's mine and individual, and truth be told, pretty unique, when looked at in total, but I also think it's a universal journey, one we all take. Join in to this opening episode of it, and take a listen. I think you'll find it's your journey too.

  • Desolation Angel Radio - The Road Home

Whew, it's been a long year. Between the Comstock Breakfast Club 75 Reunion planning and those meetings, and the Heron, and the various events there. . it's been literally all year since I could do an episode like this, a personal one. And it's personal, the music, what I have to say, and this last year had an effect. The music? It's a complete mix. I've always loved music and it shows, half the tunes are from the 70's, cuts I loved  then and still love now, and half are from today, music I absolutely love today and they're paired up so hopefully, you'll hear those connections and that lineage too. What I have to say? It's personal, and raw, and real, and some thanks are given that are needed.

    Enjoy

  • Desolation Angel Radio May 20th, 2025 - Penultimate 50th Reunion Episode

This episode is the last one before 1975 50th Class Reunion. There's details in here that you'll want to know if you're coming, and even if you're not coming, there's things in here for you too. We talk about things like tickets and sponsorship (Sponsorship is an umbrella term we use to talk about money for the scholarship to a 2025 Comstock grad, and covering the dinner for former teachers and admins that are coming). There's details on the menu, how the evening will go, parking, hotels downtown to stay if you want to stay downtown that night, and details on me needing pictures, and how you can participate, even if you're not coming with a short video interview I'll play that night. Karen, John, Diana, Mary, Jan, Pat, Steve, Gina are all in here in a group conversation. Plus music from back in the day, and a second half of the show you won't want to miss from a personal (mine) standpoint. Enjoy!

  • Desolation Angel Radio May 20th, 2025 - Great Blue Heron/Heron Nature & Wellness Weekend/Memorial Day-May Day

One of my favorite episodes of the year - the week before Memorial Day Weekend. This episode features a really good conversation with Julie Rockcastle, Jen Raines, Payge Olson, Isa Cardenas and Steve Rockcastle about the upcoming Great Blue Heron Music Festival on July 4th, 5th and 6th at the Heron and all the different activities, features and music that will be there that weekend; volunteering opportunities so you can be part of the inner workings of the festival and get a free festival pass; this upcoming Nature and Wellness weekend at the Heron and all the free (yes, free!) activities and workshops this weekend, and the Heron's annual May Day celebration on Sunday that really kicks the summer off! Plus music and cuts from Jim Donovan & The Sun King Warriors, Driftwood, Cool Cool Cool, Jimkata, Ryan Montbleau, The Rumble feat. Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr., Sneezy, Max Childs, New Planets, Julia., Florencia & The Feeling, Beats Antique, Andy Frasco & The UN, Shadowgrass and The Gunpoets. An hour and a half well worth listening to. Enjoy!

  • Desolation Angel Radio Jan. 24th 2025 - Everything & the kitchen sink

This episode of the Desolation Angel Radio podcast, as I head into the 14th year with it, has everything, the whole nine yards, all of it and the kitchen sink. Everything.  Heron folks, listen up          In the first hour, you're going to hear Julie Rockcastle with a quick announcement about big happenings here at the end of January around the Great Blue Heron Music Festival, this summer. When the blind faith tickets are going on sale, when the volunteer apps will be out, the vendor apps, all of it, and sooner than you think (like within a week, right here at the end of January), and some music from Heron's past. Before that, you get to hear some of the new music I listen to that's been released this week, or within the last month. The second hour has an entire conversation, about an hour's worth of it, from John Stanaszek, Karen Sparks-Sperry, Diana Parker LaPiana, Mary Knect and Pat Fair Smith, and in that conversation you'll hear us talking about the 50th Reunion for the Comstock Class of '75 that's been set for this coming summer and some details around that.  And as always, great music in between everything

  • Desolation Angel Radio - 2024 Year End Episode

Another one of my traditions. The last show of the year is always, as is this one, music that I listen to; at home, in the truck, at work, my own personal soundtrack of what gets me through the day, and is also a pretty good audio record of some great music in 2024.  There's some thanks from me, and some notes about the Comstock 75 bunch, and what we can look forward to there, and what we can look forward to with shows about the Heron once we hit late Winter and early Spring, but this is really just all music to turn up and enjoy. Happy New Year!  Y'all are awesome
