In the unveiling of our lives we encounter certain things in our childhood that leave an indelible mark on our soul. These unforeseen events can really hinder our growth and our ability to do things we are called to do. The difference is seeing these events as a part of our history and not something we have to bury and suppress over time.
The Japanese art of Kintsugi (too mend with gold) creates a restorative process in pottery that highlights the broken areas instead of attempting to hide them. 
Christ in us is the golden vein of redemption, and our history should show His works within us. The work of broken wholeness should never be something we hide. When shame was designed to bury you, Christ reversed that curse and highlighted the work of His enduring mercy on your life. 
You are no longer broken. You are no longer a broken vessel. You have a history.
