When we track our fears back to the source often we find they are closely related to attachment and our own NEED to control things. We hold onto ideas about ourselves, material possessions, and standard of living that we think define us. Clinging to temporary things gives them complete power over us and they become sources of pain and fear. When we accept the temporary nature of everything in our lives we can feel gratitude for the good fortune of getting to borrow the time being. The greatest attachment is being close to everything and not letting it own you. That's real inner strength.
