Come celebrate the 2nd Year Anniversary of Detention Block AA-23: A Star Wars Podcast 1st episode being launched!  It's hard to believe that it has been 2 years since the DetBlock Crew set off on their podcasting journey and they have enjoyed every bit of it and look forward to what is to come in the future!

They follow speaking to that with talking about the upcoming Ahsoka show and what they are looking forward to the most about it.  All signs, thus far, point to the show being great and they can't wait to see how the Rebels story continues through a new avenue of live action.  All will start coming into fruition starting August 23rd, with the launching of the first 2 episodes of the show.

Next, the Mike and Dustin discuss some news around Disney's plans to increase the subscription cost for Disney+ starting in October.  They will also be adding an ad free function to the service for an additional cost.  Also, not mentioned within the episode, Disney plans to cut down on household sharing of the service following the success of Netflix taking the same route and earning a great deal of additional subscribers, even though its sort of in a forceful way.  Will the same happen for Disney?  We'll just have to wait and see.

Mike jumps on to first talk about a few small news bits that include an announcement for Star Wars Jedi : Survivor and expanding out to more gamers, rumors about the upcoming Star Wars #films having the potential to dive into some of George Lucas' original sequel plans, and a brief mention of some allegations being made about a recent Star Wars celebrity.

Beyond that, Mike discusses an idea that the Crew have been throwing around recently that could impact YOU!  With how crazy, busy everything has been with the DetBlock team, they are looking to potentially opening up a 5th spot at the podcast table.  Are you passionate about Star Wars?  Do you enjoy talking about your ideas, opinions, theories, etc. about Star Wars with friends?  Do you have the means to be a part of a #podcast [in terms of computer equipment] that would provide quality video out audio?  And, most importantly, do you have the interest, want, excitement and time to be a part of a podcast?  Reach out to the DetBlock's social medial handles [provided below] to express your interest, your reasoning, and a little bit about yourself!  The team will gauge what comes out from it all and potentially bring one of you on!  If you have any film/video/audio editing and technical skills used for production, that would definitely give you an extra edge!  That would go a long way in helping Mike put everything together.

With the exciting drop of a new official trailer for the upcoming #Ahsoka show, Mike wanted to wait to watch it for the first time with all of you!  Thus, the majority of this episode is him viewing the trailer [twice] and reacting to it, on top of going back through it to break it down.  The Crew are definitely excited for this show!

The DetBlock Crew apologizes for the late launch of their most recent episode, recorded back at the end of June.  The crew's episode editor [Mike] recently had a newborn son and time has been at a premium.  With Mike and Greg both having newborn sons and Dustin expecting a child in October, they are doing the best they can to bring you new content.

For their most recent episode, Dustin and Mike dive into some interesting conversations coming out of Lucasfilm and its creators as they look to the future.  There are a lot of rumors going around based on these conversations, so its hard to decipher fact from fiction.  However, Dustin and Mike give you their perspective on these topics; specifically on, is Lucasfilm moving away from George Lucas' vision of Star Wars...?  Maybe so.

Furthermore, on a more positive note, it has been more or less confirmed that the new Ahsoka show will be a continuation of the Rebels animated show.  As some members of the production company and cast have put it, Rebels season 5.  Mike and Dustin bring you their thoughts on that.

The new Ahsoka show is just around the corner.  Even though it is kind of a slow time in Star Wars, there is so much to look forward to that is just around the corner.  The lull in content comes at a good time as the crew transitions during a busy time.  Bear with us, we will be back in full force soon.  In the meantime, Detention Block content will be a little hit and miss in terms of week to week content.  They can't wait to get back to the routine of weekly new episodes though!

On a separate note, shout out to both Greg and Mike, along with their wives and family, for the births of their new sons [Braxton Gregory Van Beck and Jaxon John Mudge].  It's a very exciting time for them and their families!

 The DetBlock Crew have a guest host today!  Dustin is playing Mr. Mom for the evening, so Bennett got to join the Crew for their recording!  I guess that makes him a new prisoner? :)

Dustin, Bennett, and Mike start out with talking about some changes #Disney is making as it relates to #movie release dates.  #Marvel movies getting pushed back, a #StarWars film added to bring 2 Star Wars movies to release in the year 2026 [May & December], and then other updates like #Avatar movies getting pushed out and #Deadpool being moved up.  Disney is clearly in some strategy reconfiguration mode when it comes to movies.

The Crew then dive into the new Star Wars: #Outlaws #videogame trailer that released.  This new game follows a new outlaw that looks to make her way out of the underworld shenanigans and to make something big of her life.  Come join them as they watch and react to the trailer.  Game scheduled to release a year earlier now, in 2024!

With Star Wars news being a little slow, babies for the Crew being born, and summer schedules getting full, the Dustin and Mike bring you a short little episode with a couple news bits, a teaser trailer reaction video, and information about the current Writer's Strike going on and its impact on Star Wars upcoming movies and shows.

Congratulations to the DetBlock Crew as they have now published their 75th #episode!  Quite the milestone for them as they are merely months away from their 2nd anniversary of releasing their 1st episode!  They are also only a few downloads away from reaching another big milestone!

To start the episode off, the Crew catch up and talk through the upcoming life changing events they have coming.  Greg and his wife are expecting child number 2 on May 31st and Mike and his wife are expecting child number 1 on June 13th.  Dustin and his wife are also expecting child number 2, but still have a little more time.  Due to all of the future little padawans being born, the Crew might be hit or miss on releasing episodes the upcoming weeks/months.  However, they will do what they can to keep bringing you all content!  Jump to about the 11:00 minute mark if you want to get right to the Star Wars content.

Getting back on topic of Star Wars, the Crew then dive into some tragic news in Star Wars.  The first being the news of the passing of Ray Stevenson, the voice actor for Gar Saxon in Rebels and the actor who portrays Baylan Skoll in the upcoming Ahsoka show.  He is also know for many, many amazing roles, including in Marvel's Thor movies, King Arthur, The Punisher, RRR, Rome, Vikings, Dexter, the Divergent series, and more.  He will be greatly missed and our hearts and prayers go out to him, his family and friends.

Following that, the next tragic news is the announcement of the closing of Star Wars immersive hotel experience, the Galactic Cruiser.  With being not even 2 years old, the announcement comes as a way for Disney to cut costs.  To be honest, this news isn't exactly surprising, especially due to the cost to go for 2 people or a family of 4; however, it is still sad to hear to say the least.  Mike, Dustin and Greg dive in to details behind this.

With Dustin having to jump off, Mike and Greg may or may not go on some major tangents that dive into history events and/or astronomy.  Things like Medieval Times, history of the universe, parallel universes, other intelligent life out there and string theory... things like that.  However, they then  go a bit into the upcoming Star Wars films that are said to be still in the works along with getting Greg's opinions of the first episode of Visions volume 2.

 Mike flies solo today to bring you some interesting interviews with Dave Filoni by Entertainment Weekly and Empire Magazine.  In these interviews, he discusses the return of Ahmed Best and the advantage of bringing in veteran Star Wars actors, Thrawn's role in the upcoming content he is creating [Ahsoka show and his feature film], along with Kathleen Kennedy's ask of him creating a feature film.  All great stuff!

Following that, Mike takes the DetBlock crew, or just himself, to talk through a high level recap of the episodes of Visions: Volume 2.  He gives a brief summary of what takes place in each episode and some of his thoughts and opinions of each.  To note, there are SPOILERS for the show in this episode.  You've been warned!

First and foremost... The DetBlock Crew caught wind that one of their favorite #YouTube channels, Honest Trailers, released one of their videos about Season 3 of The Mandalorian.  Obviously, they had to check this out and bring that to you.  Join Mike & Dustin as they watch through that and have some good laughs.  Their stuff is so great and speaks to so many things you're thinking about while watching movies, shows, or playing video games.  Make sure to check their channel out!
