In this episode, I’m speaking on how the documentary, “Keep This Between Us,” which follows a young woman who had a relationship with her high school teacher, triggered memories and similarities, involving manipulation and wanting to feel protected by your partner. We all should know by now that secret relationships, although they sound good, never really benefit anyone.
Y’all remember when men used to have a rebuttal for women and say, “Y’all were in a polyamorous relationship; You didn’t know it, though.” And many women replied, “Bet.” That whole concept defeats the purpose of the word poly—honesty is involved.

As a single parent, Rules R’ Us, which means that most aspects of my time include some type of rules. These rules have actually been put in place as a form of an avoidant attachment style, in order to deter later disappointment and you guessed it—detours.
For people like DQ, the past has affected the future in terms of jobs and the need to be financially autonomous. Unlearning loyalty to everything else but yourself can be difficult. If you get the opportunity to take a chance on yourself, take it or it just may cause a decade-long detour.

DQ has been taking a new look into mental health and how her job, not career, has caused most of the mental health issues involving low self-worth. One good thing we can take away from the workforce now, is that you should choose your mental health over a job that does not value you.
