(Psalms 140:13; Prov 13:12) Whose presence do you love to be in?

When you love someone, you just want to be with them. However, if the love is unrecognised or unrequited, it would be frustrating, saddening or depressing to the heart.

The person involved keeps hoping that one day his love or her love would be returned with embracing and warming arms and cuddles but when it does not , the heart sinks as Proverbs states “...hope deferred makes the heart sick...” Prov 13:12.

The TPT says it this way - “When hope’s dream seems to drag on and on, the delay can be depressing...” Proverbs‬ ‭13:12‬ ‭TPT‬‬

On the contrary, David the Psalmist pictured the heart of he who knows beyond the shadow of doubt that he is loved by God. He knows he is secure and protected by God because God’s love is unfailing. Due to this truth, he chooses and cherishes God’s presence above everything else.

Why not try the unwavering and unflinching love of God today, He is sure to be your most secure place as the Psalmist says “Your godly lovers will thank you no matter what happens. For they choose and cherish your presence above everything else!”

Be sure that your life will never remain the same.

Father I thank You for Your calming Word

Thank You for loving me with an everlasting love

Seize the Moment

Nothing fulfils me more than sharing and expounding the Word of God.

It was one of my thrilling moments- fulfilling, yet concerning as I seized the moment to expound the truth of God’s Word to couple of the Christian young people I work with.

I had a sense of fulfilment because it had always been my desire to see people- young and old, truly understanding what the Word of God says about them, and walking in it, by sharing the Word.

Feelings of concern came when thoughts of doubts came- “what if they do not understand, or they decide not to do anything about the truth they are taught.”

Two scriptural verses came to mind-

Ephesians 5:16

“So be very careful how you live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true wisdom, for we are living in evil times. Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for his purposes.”

I Corinth 3:6-7

“I planted the church, and Apollos came and cared for it, but it was God who caused it to grow. This means the one who plants is not anybody special, nor the one who waters, for God is the one who brings the supernatural growth.”

Our responsibility is to keep sowing and watering the seed of God’s Word, by not giving up. God, himself at the fullness of time will cause the growth of the seed.

Will moments of doubts and concern come? Yes! It will. However, we need to keep reminding ourselves to live in the Word. Our calling as Christ believers is a call to live by faith not by feelings. Living life of faith not of feelings. Deliberately taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”

‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So, what am I trying to say as I wrap up?

-Do not be discouraged

-Take full advantage of every day, to live it for God’s purpose

-When discouragement sets in, remind yourself of God’s Word in I Corinth 3:6-7. God Himself will turn things around at the fullness of time.

-Take charge of your thoughts. Someone says “the mind is a battlefield”. It truly is.

Take every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ as advised in II Corinth 10:4-5.

Jesus is Alive in Your Situation

(Acts 1:3)

It must have been difficult and undoubtedly worrying time for Jesus’ followers after Jesus their friend was crucified on the Cross- facing humiliating death on the Cross, in Getsamene. 😩😓😣

Peter and the other followers, thinking all hope was lost decided to pick up what they left behind. 😑😞

We learnt in John 21 that Peter decided to go fishing and couple of other followers went with him.

To their amazement, the supposedly dead Jesus came to their rescue after failed attempts, and they caught many fish. 🐠 🎣 🐟

I’m sure there would be many questions on their mind. 💭🤔

Could it really be Jesus?

Is He truly alive?

Was it Jesus’ ghost? 👻

How can it be?

Fast forward to Acts chapter 1. The Bible mentioned that Jesus presented Himself alive to His disciples, in many different settings over the period of 40 days.

They dined and wined together and he taught them things pertaining to the kingdom of God. 🥙🥘🍜

To these [men] He also showed Himself alive after His suffering [in Gethsemane and on the cross], by [a series of] many infallible proofs and unquestionable demonstrations, appearing to them over a period of forty days and talking to them about the things concerning the kingdom of God.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭AMP‬

This fellowship must have been re-assuring to the Disciples.

The phrase that caught my attention most when I studied this Scripture was “Jesus presented Himself alive to them…” 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Jesus presented Himself alive to his disciples who seemed to have lost hope of the awaiting desired change.🙌🏾

Are you in any way weary, downcast or doubtful of the existence of God, of Jesus and the dispensation of the Holy Spirit?

Do you feel unsettled or unsure of the reality of Jesus and His love due to personal and current national challenges? 😖😖

Do you feel like you have drawn back from His love? 😔☹️

Jesus can present Himself alive in your situation.

Jesus can, and He will show Himself ALIVE in that seemingly dead situation.

Jesus is alive! Jesus is there in your predicament. Yes! He is! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Embrace His love. 🫂🫂

And you will see Him come alive in you and your situation ❤️❤️

Myles Monroe of blessed memory once said in one of his books that ”when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable".

God created everyone for a glorious purpose and the only way to find that purpose is to go to God.

Firstly, have a relationship with God through the sacrifice He made available for us- His Son Jesus. Believing and confessing Him as one's Lord and Saviour.

Secondly, develop and ignite your fellowship with the Lord. Study the Word, live a prayerful lifestyle communing with the Lord so you can know His mind for you at all times.

“We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God’s purpose prevails.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭19‬:‭21‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Endeavour to be faithful with little opportunities God opens up one's way. Opportunities to serve could be at home, the local church or workplace. I believe that when God sees one's faithfulness and loyalty with the little, He will open one up to a higher purpose. However, in some cases, God speak specifically to individual through vision, dream or prompting, I still believe that to get to one's wealthy place still requires faithfulness with the little - at home, local church, workplace etc.

Dictionary meaning of nature: the particular combination of qualities belonging to a person, animal, thing, or class by birth, origin, or constitution; native or inherent character:

God’s purpose and plan is for us His children to be like Him.

The first Adam could not live in the reality of what God intended, however, by the help of the second and last Adam- Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord, we can live victoriously as God intended.

1 Corinth 15:45-49 (Please study it)

“For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“In other words, just as condemnation came upon all people through one transgression, so through one righteous act of Jesus’ sacrifice, the perfect righteousness that makes us right with God and leads us to a victorious life is now available to all. One man’s disobedience opened the door for all humanity to become sinners. So also one man’s obedience opened the door for many to be made perfectly right with God and acceptable to him.”

In rounding up, God created us to be like Him- in His image. God created us to reflect His nature.

Believe His Word and declare to yourself

God my Father is holy, creative, loving,

I have the nature of God

I reflect the nature of God

I am righteous

I am holy

I am patient

I am loving

I am thought

I am creative

I am wonderful

I am beautiful

Please prayerfully study these verses, ponder on it. I pray the Sun of righteousness will shine His light in your heart to see your position in Him, in Jesus’ name. Amen

Living Within the Will of God

Do you know that the answers to your prayer is in someone’s hands?

Are you aware that God’s desire is for every plan and purpose He has for you, to be fulfilled on earth as it is in heaven?

Welcome once again to Detox with Abi where we get daily dose to encourage chance within by the Word of God.

In Matthew 5-6, we learnt that at a certain time, Jesus went up on the mountain to avoid crowd. When he has settled down, His disciples joined Him and He started teaching them His Word of wisdom.

Jesus further taught His disciples about the model prayer in Matthew 6:10-11 which is our focal scriptural verse for today. Reminding His disciples of Father’s love who knows them, loves them, knows their needs and has plans for their needs to be met.

“Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:8-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So how can we live within the will of God?

By always desiring, longing, praying expectant that God’s kingdom realm to be manifested here on earth; His every purpose to be fulfilled on earth through us.

By do doing, we will be living our lives within the will of God as God purposed for us from the beginning.

Remember, be intentional to daily live within the plan and will of God.

Let us pray

Our Beloved Father, we thank you for wrapping your arms of love around us and causing us to live within your love.

I pray today -let the glory of your name be the center on which our lives turn.

Let your will be done in our lives as it is down in heaven

Help us to be sensitive to someone you planned for us to help today

Help us to remember that one.

Help our helper to remember us

Help us to be visible enough for those that will help us.

All for the glory of your name.

Some hours ago, I was scrolling through my picture gallery and was comparing my old pictures with the current ones.

I smiled and I thought to myself …’how time flies’…Grateful to God for His faithfulness.

I just want to encourage someone today to take time for your TOTAL self- spirit, soul and body as time flies and waits for no one.

Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us to be very careful how we live. We are challenged to live with honour, purpose and courage.

What is that idea, projects, business, support someone, ministry, course…that had been looming in your mind for weeks, months and years?

Go for it!

Remember- maximise every chance you get

Do you often take note of alert interruption of radio broadcasts, CDs or tapes whenever you’re driving? 

I was on my way out recently, listening to one of my favourite radio channels when suddenly it was altered. There was interruption to give radio traffic update and alert. 

I almost did not want to listen to the alert but felt I should. 

Interestingly the information given was for the local area I was heading to. There was an accident and it had caused traffic jam.  

Favourably, the traffic had not built up on the dual road  which I was on. I made u-turn before getting toward the motorway where the traffic jam started from. 

There was another traffic alert couple of days after  and what came to mind was the blessed work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christ believer.

Just as the traffic alert is provided in the natural to make commuters to attain smooth journey; so the Holy Spirit is made available for us, to guide us through our journey in this world. 

Planning a journey towards education, business career, marriage, parenting or what ever journey you desire or intend to make?

Allow the Holy Spirit interrupt your plans and schedule. Remember to be alert to receive the 

The Holy Spirit guides. He leads. He makes sense of what is to happen so that a Christ believer can live life a fulfilled life on a daily basis. 

“But the Spirit will come. He is the one who shows people true things about God. When he comes, he will be a guide to you. He will help you to understand everything that is true. He will not speak on his own authority. He will tell you only what he hears from the Father. He will tell you about things that will happen after this time.”

‭‭John‬ ‭16:13‬ ‭EASY‬‬

Today’s encouraging Charge is from Matthew 4:1; Deut 8:3, Ezekiel 37:4.

Jesus paid it all

Jesus put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself

Jesus offered Himself as sacrifice for sin forever

Heb 10:12; 14

In the Old Testament, the blood of animals were shed by the priests on a yearly basis to atone for the sin of the nation.

However, the yearly sacrifices of animals could not permanently take away sin and make human perfect.

Heb 10:1-4

That is why Jesus stepped in.

He offered Himself as sacrifice for sin. And once for all, He cleared us all - He cleared humanity of sin.

Heb 9:24-28

So, why do we struggle with sin?

Why are we sin-conscious?

Why do we feel condemned?

Could it have been ignorance?

For the Bible says “...my people perish for lack of knowledge “

Or not fully understanding our identity in Christ?

There is no more offering for sin!

Jesus paid it all!

Embrace the truth- Jesus became our Substitute for sin which means we can live habitually without sinning. Yes- but not by our power, strength or resolutions.

“No one who is born of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, because God’s seed [His principle of life, the essence of His righteous character] remains [permanently] in him [who is born again—who is reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose]; and he [who is born again] cannot habitually [live a life characterized by] sin, because he is born of God and longs to please Him.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This is how it works- the moment you accept / believe with your heart that Jesus is Your Lord and Saviour, and confess with your mouth that he died for you

You accept His death and ressurection (Rom 6:1-12)

His Spirit becomes a seal for entering into all God promised- a praising and glorious life. A life free of the enemy’s shackles.

“It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This down payment from God is the first installment on what’s coming, a reminder that we’ll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:13-14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

So - why not make this life-transforming decision to embrace God’s gift of salvation , if you have not.

Your life will for ever be changed.

Let us pray

Father I thank You for Your liberating Word. I pray You will open our mind to understand the truth of Your Word for us. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

I am going through the story of Jacob lately and one of the parts that caught my attention was the story of Jacob and Laban’s daughter - Rachel and Leah.

Jacob was shortchanged on his wedding night by Laban. He was given a wrong bride instead of Racheal whom he had laboured for, for seven years.

Why did Laban do this?

Laban mentioned that their culture did not permit younger ones to marry before their older siblings- interesting right?

Why didn’t he inform Jacob?

Story did another time.

Eventually, Jacob was allowed to marry Racheal as well however, he loved Racheal more than Leah.

Are you in is circumstances where you feel rejected?

Or do you feel castigated because of someone else’s wrong doing just like in the case of Leah?

Just want to let you know or remind you that God sees you. He feels what you are feeling.

I just want to point you back to the word of God. God sees you. God loves you.

Gen 29:31 says “When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb;…….”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭29:31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Whatever or whoever may be your cause of feelings of pain, castigation, suffering, unfairness.

God loves you. He sees you. He is turning things around for your good and victory.

Let go and let God fight your battle.

Rest in God

Rest in His Word.

Remember that just as God opened Leah’s womb and made her fruitful, He will open all that needs to be open, all for your favour in Jesus’ name. Amen
