Today marks the first anniversary of the shooting at Michigan State University that took the lives of three students. The university is holding remembrances throughout the day and officials say safety improvements have been made and will continue to be made.

Michigan joins 20 other states today with the enacting a red flag gun law that will allow the courts to take away the gun of a person deemed to be mentally unstable. The state will now also require all gun owners to keep their firearm stored safely.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has ordered all U.S. and Michigan flags upon all public buildings and grounds across the state of Michigan to be lowered to half-staff tomorrow. This, to honor and remember the students who lost their lives in the shooting at Michigan State University in East Lansing a year ago.
Gas prices have skyrocketed up 26 cents from last week to an average of $3.26 a gallon for regular unleaded. That's 32 cents more than at this time last month, but still 5 cents less than this time last year.

A Fraser middle school is in a soft lockdown after a bullet was found in a bathroom. Police believe there is no immediate threat, and students are slowly being released to parents.

According to deputies, a small blue Chevy pick-up truck drove through the employee gate around 6:20am -- causing lots of damage. There were no injuries. Police chased the car around the county, but were eventually able to arrest the 24-year-old driver.

In Canton, the Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian. A 55-year-old Canton man was hit and killed as he tried to cross the busy roadway.
