Detroit passes curfew crackdown 7-1

Detroit City Council has approved stricter curfew laws in a 7–1 vote. The updated ordinance raises fines on parents to $250 for a first offense and $500 for a second, while eliminating jail time. Officials say the move aims to curb rising youth violence by increasing parental accountability. Those who simply cant pay will be offered parenting classes through the 36th District Court.
