Welcome to our latest episode of "Voices Unheard," where we dive deep into the heart of Netflix's documentary, **Tell Them You Love Me**. This week's discussion is not just another episode; it's a personal journey for one of our hosts, whose life as a parent of an autistic child resonates with the film's exploration of communication and connection beyond conventional means.

In "Tell Them You Love Me," we're presented with a controversial and complex narrative that challenges our understanding of consent, disability, and power dynamics². The documentary follows the story of Anna Stubblefield, a white ethics professor, and her relationship with Derrick Johnson, a Black nonverbal man with cerebral palsy². It's a tale that unfolds layers of societal prejudices, the 'white savior' complex, and the quest for autonomy⁴.

As we unpack the chilling story behind the documentary, our host shares reflections on the parallels between the film's subject and their own experiences raising an autistic child. The conversation promises to be an enlightening blend of critical analysis and intimate storytelling, offering a unique perspective that only a parent in similar shoes can provide.

Join us as we navigate the murky waters of morality, legality, and love in a world where voices like Derrick's are often left unheard. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more thought-provoking content.
