Travel isn’t just something I do — it’s been the backbone (quite literally) of my journey. I started my business after breaking my back, and since then, travel has become an integral part of my life. After visiting 76 countries (68 of which are UN-recognised), I’ve learned that the true essence of travel is connection — with people, culture, and oneself. From wearing a salwar kameez in India to sleeping in airport corners with a good pillow, it’s been about respect, resilience, and readiness. As I aim to visit every country by 50, it’s not just about ticking boxes, but embracing each story, each nuance. Especially in South Asia, I’ve seen how effort — even learning a few words — can turn you from a tourist into a welcomed guest.

In regional and remote Australia, delivering mental health and psychological services goes far beyond just clinical practice — it requires cultural sensitivity, deep listening, and a trauma-informed approach. Harm isn’t always visible; it can take many forms — emotional, psychological, neglect, or intergenerational trauma. As practitioners, we carry a responsibility not only to support individuals but also to empower families and communities to understand and respond with care. True healing begins when we speak the language, respect the lived experience, and create safe spaces for recovery.
