This evening we pay tribute to Rabbi Yehuda Amital, whose 13th Yartzeit was last Sunday, by sharing his insight to the opening verse of our Parsha (the Torah potion of Devarim) which contains 80 apparently extra words in one sentence! We focus on the heartbreaking theme of Tisha B'Av that God (sometimes appears to) ignore our prayers, by focusing on the experience nine years ago when three Jewish boys were kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in Israel - were our prayers in vain? And we turn from national mourning to individual mourning to share advice on what to say and what not to say to a mourner, from two very different sources.
