In the Book of Job, the Devil went down to Edom, he was looking for a soul to steal...from God. Often cited as a story of God's cruelty and indifference, Job is, in reality, far more complex than that. Possibly a compilation of an old Jewish story and later Greek influenced philosophical dialogue, the book details the trials of the most righteous man of the day, the wealthy and successful Job. Satan is  invited to tempt God's greatest servant, only to fail in breaking his faith.
