Just over an hour after the New Jersey Devils fell to the Minnesota Wild, GM Ray Shero pulled the trigger on a trade for Michael Grabner of the New York Rangers. The Devils sent a 2nd round pick and Yegor Rykov across the River.

They hung on for a 5-2 win in the first of four against their division rival. It wasn't pretty, but it was the two points that the Devils sorely needed to get. Despite falling behind early and entering the third period down 4-3, Taylor Hall scored late for the Devils to force overtime. Drew Stafford potted the lone goal for either side in the shootout, as Keith Kinkaid stood tall in the extra session and the shootout to help guide the Devils to a much needed win.

Despite a strong effort, power play miscues, odd calls on the ice and the inability to take over the third period ultimately did the Devils in, as they lost 5-3 to the Bruins.

The Devils are riding high after the All Star break, as they notched their third straight win. The Travis Zajac line was dominant as they took the first of the season series with Pittsburgh. Zajac finished with three points and NJ held a potent Penguins offense in check. The Devils managed to take only one penalty on the night, limiting the Pens' league-leading power play.
