It's remarkable how much Exodus deals with the instructions and details regarding the construction of the Tabernacle. The length given in the text is significant in several ways. One is that it tells us God cares about creativity and beauty. He is a creative God, and we, as those made in his image, are also to be creative. He told Moses, "for beauty and glory."

In two accounts after the exodus, the people grumble and complain, and the Lord provides. He gives Israel bread and water. He tells them it is so that they know that He is the LORD and that he alone is God. Fast forward to the Gospel of John, and Jesus says some staggering things about himself that take our minds back to these events in Exodus.

God delivers his people out of bondage and oppression from tyrannical Egypt. He leads his people out by a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day. The LORD ultimately secures victory for his people and destroys Pharaoh and his army in the sea. This historical triumph also pictures what Christ has done for his people.

Passover is this unbelievable moment where God rescues and redeems his people from slavery and bondage. We remember the slaughtered lambs and blood on the doorposts. However, we must not forget that this is a moment of judgment. God judges the Egyptians and their "gods."
