Do you think you tend to view God as more of a tender Father, or a perfect and powerful God?  Of course He is both, but we sometimes have the tendency to pray with one orientation more than the other.

How would your prayers be different if you believed God was a tender and loving Father, but minimized the view of Him as perfect and powerful God?  Or that He is perfect and powerful, but not tender and loving?  Spend a few moments reflecting on how you most often view God, and how your prayers may be affected by how you view Him.

These verses give us a “rule of life,” a plan of action that will help us focus each of our daily activities toward that goal.  Whatever we do, we are to do it all in the name of the Lord.  Is pursuing God’s kingdom truly the goal for your life?  How seriously do you want to pursue this goal?

Think very specifically about three daily activities that you can apply this rule of life.  How can you put this rule into action when you approach these activities?  How can you do them in the name of the Lord?  Focus on Jesus’ presence with you, particularly during these activities.

What changes might Jesus be calling you to make?  What are the situations that He may be saying to you: I don’t condemn you, but go and don’t do this anymore?
