Jesus power over evil and sickness showed people that He is the Messiah, the One who had come to usher in God's kingdom. When Jesus approached the man who was possessed by the demons, even the demons recognized His authority. Jesus would later demonstrate His authority over sin and evil in a greater way through His crucifixion and resurrection. Sin no longer has power over all who trust in Jesus. Because Jesus has set us free from sin and death, we recognize and embrace His authority over every area of our lives as we proclaim what Jesus has done for us.

Rejection of the Messiah

Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah who came to bring good news to all people. God's plan of salvation involved the nation of Israel, but it was not restricted to them. Jesus would be rejected by His own, ultimately resulting in the cross, the means by which Jesus fulfilled God's plan. All who trust in Jesus are forgiven and accepted by the Father. Because we are no longer estranged from God but are now accepted by Him through Christ, we seek to live in peace with all, forgiving greatly as we have been forgiven.
