How does the cost of software features change over time? And what does that have to do with options or optionality? In this video, I compare two different graphs that show how difficult it is to create the next feature: One I have used before that shows the cost of features over time and one I have seen in a talk by Kent Beck that compares options to features.

Generative AI is extremely dangerous, but not because of what the AI
labs want you to believe. And they are trying to mislead us on purpose.
Here, I’m trying to describe what problems I currently see with GenAI
and LLMs, and why I use them anyway for certain tasks.

The problems I describe here and the reasons why I still use AI are not
a complete list. They are the bullet points I personally find most important
right now (Oktober 2026).
