Troll Hunter (2010)

Directed by: André Øvredal

Starring: Otto Jespersen, Robert Stoltenberg, Knut Nærum, Trolly D?

This week we're gonna take a dive into some Found Footage, and no - this isn't a movie about Santa Claus. It's more about government coverups, Norway, and trolls in the wild, with clearly not enough troll grundle. IMDB describes this as: "A group of students investigates a series of mysterious bear killings, but learns that there are much more dangerous things going on. They start to follow a mysterious hunter, learning that he is actually a troll hunter."

Tokyo Gore Police (2008)

Directed by: Yoshihiro Nishimura

Starring: Eihi Shiina, Itsuji Itao, Yukihide Benny, an alligator girl.

We asked for suggestions, and you provided! This week we're joined by fellow yourunpodcast.com member Boomer from Podcast in the Woods! It's safe to say most would call this film "Over the Top" (and no, Sylvester Stallone is nowhere to be found turning his hat around, but let's leave the description to IMDB because it would probably make more sense: "In future Tokyo, a young woman in the privatized police force tracks down her father's killer while battling against mutant rebels known as engineers."

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)

Directed by:James Cameron

Starring:Arnold Schwarzenegger,Linda Hamilton,Edward Furlong,a liquid blob robot guy

This week we're joined by our special guest Justin, from Pop Culture Reflections podcast to talk to the Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, Robert Patrick and most importantly ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER vehicle about the robot that comes back from the future to protect our alternate future from another robot that's made out of liquid metal but almost exclusively appears as a cop guy.IMDB describes this as: "A cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her ten year old son John from an even more advanced and powerful cyborg."

High Kicks (1993)

Directed By: Ruta K. Aras

Starring: Tara Lee-Anne Roth, Dennis Swarthout, Sandy Kay, the leader of a multicultural tribe of street toughs.

Anyone still here? Did we lose everyone yet? We're wrapping up our "Sweaty January" or "New Year's Resolution" month with a shot on video masterpiece that bonds our main characters over some trauma, and of course karate fights and revenge. IDMB.com describes this one as: "Toughs are troubling Sandy and her new aerobics studio; with the help of new employee Sam (a karate expert), she shows them who is boss."

00:00 Introduction and Podcast Overview

Slash Dance (1989)

Directed By: James Shyman

Starring: Cindy Ferda, James Carroll Jordan, J. Buzz Von Ornsteiner, other GLOW wrestlers

Much like time, Sweaty January (or whatever we call it) marches on (no, it's not March yet.) Grasping at more straws, we talk Slash Dance. We argue how much slashing, how much dancing and how much T&A should be in a movie that seems to market itself as a T&A movie, and if the women on the movie's cover are actually in this movie. IMDB describes Slash Dance As: "A female cop goes undercover as a dancer at an old theater to catch a serial killer who has been murdering women auditioning for a musical."

Murder-Rock: Dancing Death (1984)

Directed By: Lucio Fulci

Starring: Olga Karlatos, Ray Lovelock, Claudio Cassinelli, honestly, a bunch of dance arounders.

This is our first Lucio Fulci movie, believe it or not - and we figured why not just talk about his clearly best movie of all time, Murder-Rock: Dancing Death...

Or more like in a continuation of our January 2025 "New Years Resolutions Movies" or "Sweaty January" tradition, we found a movie that kinda sorta fit the aerobics/dancing/sweaty theme and this one happened to be by Lucio Fulci... Yeah that's the ticket. IMDB describes this one as: "The owner of a prestigious New York ballet school teams up with a male model to solve a series of bizarre murders of a few of the students."

PulseBeat (1985)

Directed By: Maurice Tobias

Starring: Daniel Greene, Lee Taylor-Allan, Robert Small, some Mel's Diner looking dude.

We're starting our 2025 New Years Resolution January with a "Drama" about a gym owner who is pretty loose when it comes to HR conduct policies and workplace relationships. Be prepared for a lot of butts and boobs jiggling on this one. IMDB describes PulseBeat as: "Rival health club owners enter an aerobic competition to prove who is superior."

Revenge of the Radioactive Reporter (1990)

Directed By: Craig Pryce

Starring: David Scammell, Kathryn Boese, Derrick Strange, some other radioactive dick jokes.

We had to break up the Christmas fest by going back to our bread and butter, and by bread and butter, I mean low budget z-grade trash. This week it's a little movie called "Revenge of the Radioactive Reporter", which looking at the cover alone, sold us on giving it some coverage. Think Darkman, crossed with a little Freddy Kruger and a dash of Toxic Avenger. IMDB says this about Revenge of the Radioactive Reporter: "A young newspaper reporter becomes a horrible crusty-faced zombie following a radioactive contamination."
