In this episode of Inspired at the CSEP Media Lab, we sit down with Dr. Ona Brown, motivational speaker, author, and transformational strategist with over 30 years of experience empowering audiences worldwide. As the daughter of legendary speaker Les Brown, Ona shares what it was like meeting her father at 24 and stepping into her own voice rather than his.
She opens up about her body of work How to Fall in Love with Your Life, why self love has to come before you can genuinely love your life, and why she believes you get the life you design, not the life you deserve. Ona also talks candidly about losing her mother this year, staying ahead of grief, and why she chose to spend Thanksgiving in the UK rather than sit with the absence back home.
The conversation moves through imposter syndrome, why self development is a daily practice and not a one time fix, the power of feminine energy in leadership after a defining moment watching a speaker named Susan hold a room to a whisper, and the entrepreneurial hustle that started at age nine braiding hair and babysitting to help her mum.
Ona also shares her reading list including The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra, and reflects on her first visit to Brixton.
A conversation about love, legacy, grief, and what it really means to carry a torch in your own way.
