Scott and I went on a run and recorded this podcast episode about Hurt 100.
Hurt 100 is different than I expected. For some reason I thought it was big corporate event in Hawaii. Not so. Scott brings life to this homegrown race for me and all of a sudden its a bucketlist race.

Devil's Gulch has 3 distances - 1/2 Marathon, 50 Miles, + 100 Miles. In a hot year (2023) DG had only three finishers out of 21 starters.
The course lives up to its name and belongs in the discussion with some of the other big mountain ultras like Wasatch or High Lonesome. 24,000' feet of gain.
It's a beast. It's a devil.

I wasn't an ultra runner until I left West Texas at the age of 19. I am really excited about this episode because I get to think about West Texas through the eyes of one of the older ultras in the country - Palo Duro Trail Run.
In this episode we talk about the history of Palo Duro Trail Run, the region in general, and what makes it beautiful.
This is one of the few ultras from the season I knew I wanted to run before recording a conversation about it. I look forward to toeing the line in Palo Duro Canyon someday to run this race.

The Mozart 100 in Salzburg, Austria was a hurricane this year and Tommy Lewis was there for every bit of it. You'll love this episode becuase Tommy is a great story teller and the 2024 Mozart 100 was a crazy story.
The ultrarunning human spirit is on full display when the rain is making rivers on the trail and hands are frozen. Enjoy.
