Chairing an all-party meeting on the violent clash in Galwan in which 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said, “Neither has anybody intruded into our territory, nor is anybody inside our territory, nor any of our posts have been captured,” drawing strong reactions on social media. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals on Saturday said it has launched antiviral drug Favipiravir, under the brand name FabiFlu, for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. The BCCI on Friday said it will review IPL's sponsorship deals, including the one with Chinese mobile manufacturing company Vivo, in a meeting next week after 20 Indian soldiers were killed during a clash with Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh.

Ten Indian Army soldiers including four officers have been released by China’s People’s Liberation Army capping three days of hard negotiations that followed the bloody battle at the eastern Ladakh’s Galwan valley on Monday. A high-level panel has recommended bringing down the charges for COVID-19 treatment in private hospitals in the national capital by more than half. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who tested positive for COVID-19 three days ago, was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Friday after his condition deteriorated, officials said.

From the Newsroom, today, Indian and Chinese militaries held Major General-level dialogue today for the third consecutive day on disengagement of troops as well as restoration of normalcy in Galwan Valley.  At least 12 MLAs belonging to Congress and the National People's Party in Manipur today wrote a letter to the Manipur Assembly Secretary seeking a motion for removal of the Speaker alleging that the latter was acting in an "authoritarian" manner. Ibobi Singh said his party is trying to form a coalition government in Manipur and will soon move a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the auction of 41 coal blocks for commercial mining and said he was liberating the sector from decades of “lockdown” with a view to turn the country into an exporter of coal from being an importer at present.

Today, from the newsroom, In the first event of bloodshed on the LAC in 45 years, as many as 20 Indian soldiers including the Commanding Officer of an infantry battalion of Indian Army were martyred on Monday night in a "violent face-off" with the People’s Liberation Army troops disrupting the fragile peace prevailing along India's disputed border with China.  India registered the highest-ever spike of 2,003 COVID-19 fatalities, pushing the country's death toll to 11,903, while the number of cases rose to 3.54 lakh.  The World Health Organization said it would update its guidelines on treating people stricken with COVID-19 to reflect results of a clinical trial that showed a cheap, common steroid, dexamethasone can help save critically ill patients.
