00:00:00 Wisdom doesn't appeal to those operating instinctually
Dhammarato and Joni talk about Right Livelihood as a part of the method for freedom. They discuss how it is in your power to make a job noble by changing your own attitude. Dhammarato states that a more wholesome job is to make friends with everyone within your work environment, including janitors and clerks. In the end, Joni dials in on a concept of Mudita, or Sympathetic Joy, which is an antidote to jealousy as well as a way to "make the medicine go down".

Starting with a few traps of modern interpretation of meditation in the West, Dhammarato leads the conversation onto the four aspects on the path of liberation: Right View, Right Sati, Right Effort, and Right Attitude. In the end of the video call, the students share their success story in handling a discord in their relationship by taking a "winner attitude" and Nurturing themselves into feeling good. Dhammarato answers Anna's question about his personal story of finding comfort and security in here and now. While on the topic of the "search for one's purpose", he brings the idea of life as "a dance where you can just dance without asking WHY you are dancing". In the second part of the conversation, Dhammarato talks Anna through practice of Anapanasati, ie noticing the anxiety-producing thoughts, taking a big breath, and intentionally Nurturing yourself into relaxation.

Dhammarato points out a few mistakes in working with the breath and hones in on meditation with an intention of "cleaning the mind of the garbage" instead. In this introductory conversation, Eric and Dhammarato compare the Buddhist way of meditative practices to the Western approach of mindfulness. Dhammarato gives a practical explanation of the Buddha's teaching, that is of seeing the Dukkha and getting rid of it immediately. 0:00 Meditation
Dhammarato answers Peter's questions about how the practice of Anapanasati plays into the 8 Fold Noble Path. In breaking down the building blocks of the Path, Dhammarato pays an acute attention to the Right Effort of "bending the limb" by intentionally getting rid of the "big gray booger" aka junk thoughts. Another metaphor Dhammarato uses as a result of the practice is "sea legs" of Upekkha - the dynamic balance that allows one to handle the high seas of life.

0:00 8 Fold Noble Path and Anapanasati way of practice
Justin and Dhammarato discuss the differences in meditative approaches practiced by the Buddhists and the Westerners. Justin shares that by adhering to the method of Anapanasati, he can see tangible results in his everyday lifestyle and ways of thinking. Dhammarato revisits the issue of safety and security as a starting point for developing satisfaction and, later, success in life. He gives a more accurate definition of "enlightenment" as an easily available yet not permanent state of mind. He then focuses on sustaining it through an everyday practice by using Sati, or "remembering to catch yourself" and Nurturing yourself back into it by gladdening the mind with wholesome thoughts.
