The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has established the Artificial Intelligence Safety and Security Board to advise the Secretary on the secure development and deployment of AI technology in critical infrastructure. However, the board faces the challenge of determining priorities within the vast scope of critical infrastructure. To streamline efforts, they should prioritize essential systems such as the grid, water, energy, transportation, and healthcare. Addressing cyber risks associated with AI should be a key focus, as malicious actors explore AI-enabled tactics. The board should also consider sufficient resources for government agencies to tackle cyber threats and explore the promise and diffusion of AI in critical infrastructure.
