Sarah Alexander's marriage to millionaire Logan Montgomery is put on hold when Logan is offered the opportunity to go on an extended archeological dig in Egypt. Though not happy with his decision, Sarah supports her fiancé, despite the fact she's already given up her apartment and teaching position.
When Sarah's best friend, Pippa, suggests Sarah move to Sunset Cove, she figures a new town, new job, and new friends are just what she needs to help her through the separation. If she'd known one of those friends would turn out to be kind-hearted, good-looking, and well-built, Officer Kevin Jenkins, she might have figured a little harder.
Though Sarah goes out of her way to keep her relationship with Kevin on a friends-only basis, it's clear their feelings for one another are teetering toward something more. Now Sarah must make the most important decision of her life. Will she go for diamonds or donuts?

Another Great story
This story drew me in from the beginning. It was tender love and plenty of passion, yet clean and wholesome. 4 stars because there were a few errors in this online edition, mostly extra quotation marks where they shouldn't have been. Also there could have been a little more depth in the scenery potential for sequel (s) is clear. (Hint: I would love to "visit" Egypt and the archeological sites!)

Wonderful story that gets your attention and holds it from the 1st chapter. I enjoyed getting to know Sarah, Logan, Kevin, Pippa and the 3 sets of parents and a few other minor characters, especially Antonio. This story moves along well and keeps the momentum going through to the end. You are going to have to read yourself to find out if it's Diamonds or Donuts.
Diamonds Or Donuts
Lucie Ulrich writes a fantastic story. Her way with words is especially interesting to read. Kevin and Sarah are my favorite characters. Kevin is very articulate. They both are kind and thoughtful. Pippa is another great character as are her parents and Sarah's parents. Hope there is a sequel.
Sometimes things happen for a reason
What's a girl to do when her fiance is pulled away for an extended period of time right before the wedding? For Sarah, the answer is easy. As a loyal, caring woman, she's determined to wait for him, even when she's not happy that he didn't consult her about his decision. Or when he calls his mother more often than he calls her. What Sarah doesn't count on is the new man in her life.
What could easily be a "flighty girl who can't make up her mind" story is much deeper and much richer. A "sweet" story, the author deftly navigates the emotions of loving the "wrong" man while trying to resist the "right" man. Sarah's moral compass is right where it should be, drawing the reader into her dilemma. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and that is the moral of the story, front and center. Great story, easy read. Recommended.
It was so good I knew I would want to revisit it
I actually borrowed this book through a digital loan at my library. After I finished reading it I prompted went to Amazon and bought it. It was so good I knew I would want to revisit it! I read Diamond or Doughnuts between two other "chick flick" books and it definitely stood out as the best.
