The intersectionality of being Black and a young woman poses a unique set of problems for Black girls in foster care. The Diaries of a Black Girl in Foster Care series addresses current cultural issues, disparities, and stereotypes that aid in poor outcomes for Black girls who have experienced care. We are determined to change the narrative and debunk stereotypes of Black girls with lived experience by partnering and welcoming podcast guests with subject matter experts that have lived experience in the child-welfare system.
Although, titled “ Diaries of a Black Girl in Foster Care”, we welcome those who are transgender, non-binary, or use no labels in the safe space. We recognize that gender and how we claim our identities is evolving across the spectrum.
