What do you do when your cat starts urinating everywhere—and nothing seems to help?
In this episode of the Diary of a Cat Mom podcast, I share the story of Peekaboo, a rescue cat who developed severe inappropriate urination. After medical causes had been ruled out, my friend became emotionally overwhelmed and asked for help.
When Peekaboo came to live with me, I quickly discovered how physically and emotionally exhausting constant cleaning, washing, and uncertainty could become. The experience taught me an unexpected lesson: sometimes we cannot change our cats, but we can change how we respond.
By learning to regulate my nervous system and my own emotions, observing Peekaboo's cat behavior without frustration, and creating an environment where she felt safer, I eventually saw meaningful improvements.
This isn't a medical guide. It's a personal cat mom story about caregiving, patience, observation, and creating a better life for both cats and the cat parents who love them.
