We live in a society and grow up in environments, which really don't support us in being in alignment with ourselves and spending our time doing what we want; and this can make us very good at neglecting our own needs and desires. 

The thing is, no one is ever going to come around and give you permission to do what you want, you have to give yourself that permission and then learn to carve out space to create a life where you (and your creative work) are your highest priority.

It's easier said than done, I know, but if we don't try, I feel there is always the chance Life will through a curveball at you that will make you try whether you want to or not. I guess, the question is, do you have to wait for life to throw you that curveball or can you actively start working towards doing what's best for you today?

We, as a species, just really love to do things on hard mode.

It's indoctrinated into us through society, through our families and workplaces that how we approach things has to be on the most difficult mode possible. The thing is, what we don't realise, as an individual, community or even as a species, is that we do have a choice to check out of this mindset.

Perhaps, it's not possible to check out of this mindset in every aspect of our lives, but in our own internal worlds, especially in relation to our creativity, we can definitely choose the level of difficulty we want to approach it with. 

We also, unfortunately as a species, have a real scarcity mindset, and this can turn even the nicest person into a mean little bitch. 

Today, we are not only discussing the choice we have in how we want to approach our creative work, but also how scarcity and success loop into each other and can define the type of successful person we're going to be.

Note - I do not recommend the mean little bitch mindset, but you do what makes you feel happy.

Every story has a beginning, middle and end, and while some might say they struggle with writing every part of a story (which is fair enough - stories are bloody hard to write) a lot of people often pick the middle part as the most difficult to write.

Today, we are discussing why writing the middle part of the story is such a troublesome endeavour and tactics we can use to make it a little easier, and I will be discussing my own recent struggles with the middle section of a story I am currently working on and how I knew I had to do more work on it.

As a person, we have our strength and weaknesses.

As creators, we also have our strength and weaknesses.

However, this isn't a conversation we have a lot amongst creators. Perhaps it's because the majority of creators are so riddled with self-doubt, we don't even think it's possible to have any strengths in our creativity; but that in itself is worth addressing. Because as creators, we need to know our strengths and weaknesses. 

If our desire is to create rounded projects without flaws that destroy the work, we need to know where our strengths and weaknesses lie.

There are so many types of writers out in the world.

There are the writers who love to do world building, who thrive with character dialogue, who get really into the layers of their character's personality and physical appearances, and then there's the writers who just have this incredible ability to create atmospheric sensations with their words. 

But, like anything, when it comes to novel writing, there are good ways and bad ways to display your poetry like words. Unknowingly, we read so many stories which have a seed of origin we're not aware of. In the white western world, we're all aware of the most famous seeds of fiction like Merlin and King Arthur, Robin Hood and the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, but there's a bunch of other stories and characters that are just as old, that have and can be the source of modern-day stories.

If we stick to consuming art we’re familiar with, we’ll never know what could be and grow as creators. 

As consumers, it is totally fine to find what you love and stick with it, but as creators we have to be willing to dip our toes into other waters. It’s the only way to develop into a well-rounded creator, and help change the narratives that each of our cultures loves to adopt and portray in fictional spaces.

Articulation or vocabulary, which is more important?

Note - This is not focused on expecting any person or writer to have some level of upper class pr*ck worth of vocabulary to be considered a good writer.
