Listen Later

Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney died on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 84.
According to a statement released by his family, he died at his home due to complications from pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. Cheney had a long history of heart problems, including suffering five heart attacks before receiving a heart transplant in 2012, which had helped extend his life. Cheney served as the 46th Vice President of the United States under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009. He was known as one of the most powerful and polarizing vice presidents in history, playing a key role as an architect of the "war on terror" and an early advocate for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. His decades-long career in public service also included roles as White House Chief of Staff for President Gerald Ford, U.S. Representative from Wyoming, and Secretary of Defense under President George H.W. Bush.
