In the grand scheme of things, the stories of our past generations are not as distant as we may believe them to be. 

Ruby Bridges, the first courageous African American student to be integrated into a non-segregated school, has an active social media account. George Takei, the prolific Asian American actor who appeared on the original Star Trak series, is still alive to talk about the Japanese internment camps his family was placed in when he was a child. 

Historically some stories have been silenced or suppressed because it threatens those who seek to maintain power and control. These stories need a platform more than ever.
