What are diet culture's toxic traits? What is life without a challenge? These are just a couple of the questions that Chey and I discuss in today's episode. Chey also shares her story about her eating disorder and how she is working towards recovery. In that, we talk about why getting professional help is essential and is NOT something to be ashamed of.
Chey is a 3rd year nursing student in Canada and is currently working in the health care field through the pandemic. She did 2 years of university before starting her nursing program, which is when she got sick with an eating disorder. Over the last 4 years, she has been to treatment once and since been figuring out the world of recovery with the endless support of her friends. Chey believes that full recovery is possible, and her mission is to document her experiences and educate as many people as possible about the harmful nature of eating disorders, disordered eating, and diet culture. She believes that together we can help society reach a place of acceptance within the mental health field, and make strides towards a better future!
