Different Noises

On this show the third of twelve looks at Ivo Perelman's massive new set of saxophone duets, this time with Tim Berne. I am also featuring two recent albums from Tim with firstly Matt Mitchell and secondly Gregg Belisle-Chi. In addition I am playing tracks from  three great new releases from Lauren Falls, Örjan Hulten Orion and Kerry Politzer.

On this show the second of twelve  features   focusing on Ivo Perelman's stunning new release of saxophone duets. This time the focus is on his partnership with Lotte Anker. In addition music from Lotte, and new releases from Igor Willcox, Nickolas Mohanna and Longtoe, and previously unreleased recordings, composed by Karl Jenkins, from a rare performance of his ten piece group in 1971.

With some great releases this year featuring guitarist Mary Halvorson it seemed timely to reflect her 2022 output and also look back at some great appearances as a leader, as part of Thumbscrew, and, as a guest on other albums.

A decidedly Antipodean tinge to this weeks offering with music from The Blackwater Fever, Dusty Miles, Dave Graney & Clare Moore, Harry Howard, and Malcolm Hill & Live Flesh. From the northern hemisphere music from Austerboys, Carterband, Kee Avil, The Conspiracy, 2 Lost Souls, Neon Kittens and Russ Spence.

This edition includes music from the massive new box set from Ivo Perelman - a suite of 12 recordings of saxophone duets "Reed Rapture In Brooklyn" -  which I will be featuring over the next 12 weeks - i'm kicking off with Ivo's partnership with Joe Lovano. In addition a selection of music from across Joe's career plus new music from Tyshawn Sorey,  Oscar Lavën, Dan Weiss, Timo Vollbrecht and Dan McCarthy.
