Since its beginning in the 1960 the sneaker culture has taken the US and world by storm. As a result from its 1960’s origin the sneaker culture evolved as a form of expression for a race of people that were otherwise voiceless — the African-American. As this culture has grown, like so many other African American trends, it has been capitalized on and has become a multi billion dollar market. Yet we see very few of our own truly profiting off the culture. In this episode of Different Thought we are joined by Chattanooga Sneaker Boutique, Free Agency owner, Brian Sullivan, to talk about the sneakerhead culture and its effects on the black community and the world.
