In England and Wales it’s argued divorce proceedings can be made worse by laws that require a lengthy wait or accusations of wrongdoing and misbehaviour. Recently a British woman took her case all the way to the Supreme Court to end their marriage but it ruled against her. It’s prompted calls for the UK to introduce a ‘no-fault’ or blameless divorce system and update laws that are nearly 50 years old to reflect modern relationships.
