On the symbolic day of atonement carried out yearly in the camp of Israel, symbolically gathered the sins brought to the temple throughout the year during the daily sin offerings. These sins were collected on the High Priest as He cleansed the sanctuary with the perfect blood of the Lord's Goat. After the whole house was cleansed the High Priest would then place all the sins on the head of the scape Goat, a symbol of Satan. So ultimately all confessed sin eventually ends up on the head of the originator of all sin, the Devil and Satan.

God wants us to be pure and clean and totally perfect. He accomplishes this by taking our sin upon Himself and setting us free. How this actually works is beyond my understanding, but this is what I know. God has a way to set me free from the consequences of my own poor choices and live forever.
