  • Selah Moment: Sacred Pause

Welcome to Week 8 of Moments with God, your weekly soul nourishment and self-guided Bible study. This episode is a Selah Moment — a sacred pause to reflect, remember, and rest in what God has spoken.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve journeyed through deep spiritual truths: the battles we face, the protection we need, and the path from salvation to transformation. Now, it’s time to pause and process.

Host Vernetta invites you to slow down and digest this — to ask yourself:

    • What battles have I faced recently, and how has God shown up in ways I didn't expect?
    • In what ways has the hidden season prepared me for what God is now calling me into?
    • What evidence of transformation do I see in my thoughts, responses, or desires, and am I recognizing the small shifts?

This is not just a break — it’s a holy invitation to make space for God to do a deeper work in you. Whether you’re catching up or joining for the first time, this Selah Moment is your altar — a place to lay down burdens and lift up worship.

Don’t rush past the pause. It’s sacred, it’s transforming, and it’s necessary.

  • From Hidden to Holy: The Journey from Salvation to Transformation

In this episode, we explore the powerful transformation of Zacchaeus as a model for our own journey—from hiding in shame to living in holiness. What emotional “trees” are you climbing to stay hidden, and what happens when Jesus calls you by name?

Through the five spiritual stages—Salvation, Repentance, Sanctification, Holiness, and Transformation—you’ll gain a clear path from being seen to being changed. Using Luke 19:5–9 as our foundation, this week’s study challenges you to come down from your place of hiding and meet Jesus where He calls you.

This episode is more than a teaching—it's a sacred invitation to encounter God, reflect deeply, and walk intentionally in your faith journey.

  • The Proven Method for Fighting Battles

In this powerful follow-up to last week’s study on spiritual warfare, Vernetta guides us into part two of the series with a timely and sobering truth: you don’t win battles by simply showing up—you win by showing up prepared.

This episode focuses on Ephesians 6 and unpacks the Armor of God—not as symbolic theology, but as a divine, practical survival guide for everyday life. When we recognize that our battles are spiritual, not personal, we stop fighting from a place of fear and start standing in the authority God has already given us.

You’ll revisit a teaching from Season 1, “Soul vs. Satan: Spiritual Armor Needed for Battle,” and reflect on what it means to be dressed for spiritual combat. This episode calls you to do more than listen—it invites you to examine your preparedness, lean into God’s instructions, and make spiritual armor part of your daily lifestyle.

    Main Takeaways:

    • The Armor of God is a proven method, not a metaphor.
    • Preparation determines your power.
    • The enemy can’t destroy what God has armored, anointed, and assigned.

    Key Passage: Ephesians 6:10–18

  • The Battle You Are Fighting is Not Personal

In this week’s episode of Moments with God: Weekly Soul Nourishment, Vernetta invites you to shift your perspective on the battles you're facing. What if the conflict isn’t about you at all? What if the struggle, the weariness, the betrayal—it’s all part of a larger spiritual strategy aimed at distracting you from your faith and derailing your relationship with God?

Rooted in Ephesians 6:10–12, this teaching exposes the real enemy: not people, but spiritual forces of darkness working to frustrate God’s plan for your life. This episode lays the foundation for a two-part study on spiritual warfare, drawing from the powerful teaching in “Soul vs. Satan” (Season 1).

You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of how to stop wasting energy on the wrong battles and start standing firm in God’s truth, strength, and authority. Because the fight isn’t personal—it’s spiritual. And it’s already won.

  • Selah Moment: Sacred Pause

In this special fourth episode of Moments with God, we embrace a Selah moment—a sacred pause to reflect, remember, and rest in what God has already spoken. Host Vernetta invites you to slow down and intentionally process the lessons from the first three episodes and the bonus teaching, The Sacred Habits of Communication: The Gateway to Intimacy with God.

Have you feasted on the meat of God’s Word or savored the sweet reminders? Whether you’re caught up or catching up, this week is set aside for you to digest the spiritual nourishment you’ve received so far. Be reminded: growth happens not just in the battle but also in the pause.

Take this opportunity to reflect on your journey, restore your soul, and prepare your heart for what’s next. Don’t miss the miracle in the stillness.

    Selah.

  • Who is God? Knowing the One You Trust

Welcome to Moments with God: Weekly Soul Nourishment. In this episode, host Vernetta explores one of the most essential questions in our walk with God: Who is God? Knowing God’s character and nature reshapes how we trust Him through every circumstance.

This episode walks through how God describes Himself in Exodus 34:6–7, how Jesus mirrors the Father’s heart in John 14:9–11 and Colossians 1:15, and how the Holy Spirit cultivates God’s character within us through the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22–23.

In this study, we reflect on:

    • The distinction between God’s character (how He acts) and His nature (who He is).
    • How the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—reveals a consistent, trustworthy identity.
    • How we are invited to reflect God’s character through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

This is more than a Bible lesson—it’s an invitation to trust more deeply in the One who is holy, sovereign, gracious, and present.

    Key Scriptures:

    • Exodus 34:6–7
    • John 14:9–11
    • Colossians 1:15
    • Galatians 5:22–23

For a complete printable version of the study guide, it is available here.

    Additional Scriptures for Further Study:

    • Psalm 103:8–13 – A description of God's compassion and mercy
    • Hebrews 1:3 – Jesus as the exact representation of God’s being
    • Isaiah 6:3 – God’s holiness declared
    • Jeremiah 32:17 – God's power and sovereignty

Bible Study Questions: God’s Qualities and the Fruit of the Spirit

    1. God’s Character (Exodus 34:6–7)

    • What do these verses reveal about the way God interacts with His creation?
    • Which of these character traits (compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness) do you need to experience or trust more deeply today?

    2. God’s Nature

    • How does understanding God as holy, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, sovereign, and eternal impact your trust in Him?
    • Which attribute of God's nature are you most drawn to, and why?

    3. Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23)

    • Which of the nine fruits are most evident in your life today? Which ones are harder to live out?
    • How does the Holy Spirit cultivate these traits within us as we grow closer to God?

    4. Jesus Reflecting the Father (John 14:9–11; Colossians 1:15)

    • How does Jesus’ life and ministry demonstrate the heart of God?
    • What does it mean that Jesus is the “image of the invisible God”?

    Journal Prompt:

    • How your trust in God has grown as you understand His character and nature.
    • A specific situation where knowing who God is helped you respond in faith rather than fear.

    Action Step:

This week, choose one fruit of the Spirit you want to intentionally grow in this week. Ask the Holy Spirit to produce it in your thoughts, words, and actions.

Grace and peace! Welcome to Week Two of Moments with God’s Weekly Soul Nourishment, your self-guided Bible study to help you intentionally spend sacred moments with God.

In this episode, we unpack a powerful truth: the Bible is not just a historical text, but a living, breathing revelation of God’s heart, written through the power of the Holy Spirit. Together, we break down a fresh acronym for B.I.B.L.E. — Biblical Instructions Breathed & Divinely Inspired by the Lord’s Eternal Spirit — and explore how scripture’s authority, sacredness, and transformational power shape our faith today.

Through storytelling and divine inspiration, God still speaks. Tune in, take notes, and prepare to experience His Word as alive and active in your daily life.

Write about a time when a scripture “spoke” directly to your situation. What did God reveal to you? How did it guide your next steps?

    Action Step:

  • God Desires Relationship, Not Religious Rituals

Welcome to Moments with God: Weekly Soul Nourishment, a self-guided bible study. This week’s episode dives deep into the truth that God desires a genuine relationship with you, not empty religious rituals. Through Isaiah 1:11–17, we’ll uncover how God longs for hearts aligned with His justice, mercy, and love — not just outward actions. Listen in, pray, reflect, and discover how to trade routine for real intimacy with your Creator.

Use the Study Guide below. You can grab the pdf here

    Main Passage:

    Isaiah 1:11–17
Read this carefully in a few translations if possible.

    Additional Scriptures to Meditate On:

    • Psalm 51:16–17 — “You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
    • Micah 6:6–8 — “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
    • Matthew 15:7–9 — Jesus quoting Isaiah: “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me…”
    • John 4:23–24 — “True worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth…”
    • James 1:27 — “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows…”

    Bible Study Questions:

    1. According to Isaiah 1:11–17, why did God reject the sacrifices and assemblies of Judah?
    2. How does this passage challenge your current understanding of worship and religious practice?
    3. What does true worship look like according to the additional scriptures?
    4. Are there areas in your life where you rely on routine more than relationships?
    5. How can you align your daily actions with a heart that reflects God’s justice and mercy?

    Journal Prompt:

Reflect on a time when you did something for God out of routine rather than genuine love. How can you shift from ritual to relationship this week?

    Action Step:

Identify one religious habit you’ve done without much heart (e.g., church attendance, serving, or prayer out of duty). This week, intentionally pause and do that practice with a renewed focus on deepening your relationship with God. Invite the Holy Spirit to make it real and heartfelt.
