- International Women's Day Episode -
This episode is the first part of our conversation with Margreet van der Burg about the history of women in dutch agriculture throughout the 20th century. Margreet is a historian who is specialized in gender studies related to agriculture, and she works as a teacher and researcher at the Wageningen university.
In this episode we dive into the segregated agricultural education system, the lack of, or the difficulty to find, female stories and perspectives in agricultural history and the feminist movement in the 20th century.
Disclaimer: we will be talking in quite a binary way, when discussing the differences between activities, norms and rights for men and women in the agricultural sector. As a non-binary person myself, I would like to add a few words here to acknowledge the fluidity of gender and the realities in the past and the present of genderqueer people on the farmland.
