Digital Monk Soundsystem episodes

  • DMSS #17: Two Beers Presents: "Death To The Wack Emcees"

Two Beers, a filmmaker from Boston and walking-breathing encyclopedia of hip hop, collabs with his (actual) brother Gasoline Monk on this mixtape of hip hop classics. These tracks from the golden era of emceeing remind us how far a lot of rappers today have strayed from the soul of the music. From ODB to Slick Rick to Masta Ace to Nas, there's only one rule to this mix - bring the dope rhymes!

  • DMSS #15: CRLF - "Soul Madness"

Danish producer CRLF (a.k.a. Peter Dre) drops a mix of nothin but 70s synth jazz/funk/soul. A dose of some of the truest music of all time - and a history lesson for those who this is new to!

  • DMSS #12: Blown Pupils - "Don't Blink"

Pure underground bass bangers... starting with moombahton, ending with hip hop and touching EVERYTHING in between. A couple originals too. It's been a while since Bobby Digi & Gas Monk did a mixtape together... these ideas've been fermenting at parties around Boston for months!

  • DMSS #5: Shatter Hands - "Video Game Traps"

Denmark's Shatter Hands (reppin Greased Up Records) just dropped a new EP called THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS. Now he's droppin some 404-drenched, glitched-out hip hop for us. Here comes a brand new flava in ya ear.
