Alright gang, pulling from my travel memoir for the last time, we conclude my time in New York.

Alongside my (not so) worldly musings on coffee, modern art and Yoko Ono, this episodes digs further into my battle with social anxiety & lone drinking. It also focuses on a globe trotting Australian I encountered. A woman who introduced me to giant alien spiders and Japanese restaurants.

Alright gang, this week we're diving into my past.

After rediscovering a travel memoir I was working on, but subsequently abandoned five years ago, I thought I'd read through the first couple of chapters that never were.

The memoir was intended to cover the coast to coast adventure across America that eventually placed me in Central Texas. Digging into the first section of the first draft, we find a younger, more anxious, and socially uncertain version of myself navigating the streets of New York.

Bushwick, Brooklyn to be precise.

In this episode you can expect to find plenty of cringe-worthy thoughts. Overly descriptive writing. Anxiety. Catastrophizing. The facing of demons and even a little bit of poignant insight.

Opening this memoir up after five years was a little daunting to say the least, but ultimately it proved that sometimes you really do need to look at where you were, to truly appreciate where you are.

Alright gang, this week we're chatting with Youtube story teller Kayla Spears.

In my conversation with Kayla we talk about how and why she started 'Story Time with Kayla'. The value of having a mission statement. The validity of finding your calling, in your own time, in your own way. The importance of representation, reflection and identity in children's literature. The impact her story telling Youtube channel has had during the pandemic and so much more.

Outside of giving me a solid introduction to the world of Dungeons & Dragons, Brad was kind enough to share his experiences with the game and how as a blind player, it's become such a positive hobby for him to pick up.

In the episode we discuss how creating a detailed D&D character can be a great way to extend & explore your personality. How it can be an opportunity for others to relate to who you are, or to put yourself in somebodies boots. Figuratively and literally as I came to learn.

We also touch upon how life has been for Brad since losing his sight, how D&D has given him a social channel that makes a huge difference & how this beloved RPG can be a developmental tool for children.

Alright gang, this week I'm documenting my experience with The Caretaker's seminal music project 'Everywhere at the End of Time'. An experimental, dark ambient album that spans six and half hours, EATOT explores and depicts Alzheimer's disease through six stages. Going through each stage I explore the emotional and mental effects of the project.
