Hi, I'm father Brendan Bartlett from the Diocese of Arlington

Today we celebrate the Second Sunday

in Ordinary Time

And our Gospel story shows us how that most

frequently

people come to know Jesus Christ

through the intervention of another

We see in the story of John the Baptist

introducing Andrew

to Jesus Christ

and he goes and spends the day with Him

following that Andrew goes and

finds his brother Simon Peter and tells him that they found the Messiah

and he is introduced to Jesus Christ

So we see that these men

came to Jesus through the

intercession or intervention of another

So I think it's important for us to

think back in our lives

about who it was that brought us to Jesus Christ

who it was that introduced us to Jesus Christ

and be thankful for them

If that hasn't happened

to think maybe "Is this the opportunity

for you to come to know

Jesus Christ?"

But the flip side of that

and perhaps more important is for us to

think about who we have brought to Christ

who we have introduced to Jesus Christ

in our lives

Are we evangelizing by the witness of our lives?

Do we do so

directly?

How is it that we are that tool to bring Jesus Christ into

the lives of others?

So my challenge for you this week

would be to think about that

and to ask yourself "How effective an instrument am I in bringing Jesus

Christ to other people?"
