The cross was obviously a focal point of Jesus’s ministry. In fact, Luke records several times when Jesus alluded to the cross in the presence of his disciples. In Luke 14:27, Jesus even goes so far as to say that one does not have what it takes if he or she is not willing to bear a cross of their own.
